Daughters initials will be LMP

So, the name we have fallen in love with for our daughter is Lara and I want to give her my mother's name for her middle name which is Marjorie and her surname begins with P, making her initials LMP.... do you think this will affect her in later life being the abbreviation for 'Last Menstrual Period' - kids can be mean!!

I'd love to hear your thoughts....

Just substitute with lemon meringue pie in your head, as per PP 😊 It's a lovely name.

CutieBear · 09/06/2021 12:04

I’ve never heard of LMP.

L123A · 09/06/2021 12:04

I’d be more likely to think limp is a potential issue but not really even then

Lucykbw · 09/06/2021 12:04

I'm liking the lemon meringue pie substitute. I also now want lemon meringue pie.....

Another one who clicked on the thread to find out what the problem was. Complete non-issue and a lovely name! Congrats OP

Jellybabiesforbreakfast · 09/06/2021 12:06

Had we picked our favourite first name and middle name for our DC, our DC's initials would have been BAD. I don't think LMP is a big problem.

Hallyup6 · 09/06/2021 12:08

Only a pregnant woman or midwife would know that abbreviation and nobody would care anyway. I guarantee you that your own initials will mean something to someone but you're completely unaware of it. As long as they don't spell something dodgy then I think you're fine.

And Lara is beautiful btw.

@vivariumvivariumsvivaria

Give her another name to make it 4 initials?

Not Anna, Ingrid, or Ursula, though.

@Lucykbw

Thanks everyone, definitely feel better now, you are all so right that you would only know that if you had come across it.

I think it's because I know what it means I can't get it out of my head 🙈

Even so. When are you ever going to use their initials? Maybe on their school clothes, but not necessarily. By the time you've got a five year old you'll be well over it.
highlighteryellow · 09/06/2021 12:10

Until I got pregnant I had never heard of LMP!

Lara is a beautiful name.

ApolloandDaphne · 09/06/2021 12:11

@crumble82

I had to come on here to see what the problem was as had no idea what LMP stood for. I think you’re overthinking it and they’re both lovely names
Me too! I don't think it will ever be an issue.
lotstolose1 · 09/06/2021 12:12

I read the title and only came here to find out what LMP means Grin no I definitely don't think that would be an issue at all, I don't think I've ever worked out someone's initials and took the piss

RuthW · 09/06/2021 12:13

Add another name in so it's something like.

Laura Martha Anne Potts

I think it will be more awkward when she's an adult. I wouldn't do it.

Cottoncandyandpeaches · 09/06/2021 12:14

My mother lost 3 babies before she had me
One babies initials would have been BRA-she didn’t notice until I was pregnant with no1 and was spelling out her name
That,I get but I wouldn’t worry about LMP-nobody will catch on or just add another name and have another look at how it pans out

Bluesheep8 · 09/06/2021 12:14

I imagine that this is only something that pregnant people and women’s health care professionals might have at the forefront of their minds.

This. I've never even heard of this abbreviation. Actually I wouldn't even notice if someone's initials stood for an abbreviation of anything tbh

WhenZoomWasJustAnIceLolly · 09/06/2021 12:14

Kids won’t notice. But adults will. I don’t agree that it’s overthinking. I’d give an extra middle name.

again2020 · 09/06/2021 12:16

My DD's initials are PVC! So there you go! 😂

No one will make this connection.

LadyEuphemia · 09/06/2021 12:16

My DD’s initials are LEG, no one has ever noticed, including her Grin I think you’ll be fine with LMP.

2bazookas · 09/06/2021 12:18

School kids have never heard of " last menstrual period".

They're more likely to call her Lumpy, but only if they knew her middle name. Which they have no reason to know if you don't advertise it.

Normandy144 · 09/06/2021 12:18

Hi

You are way over thinking this. I also clicked on the thread because I wanted to know what was so wrong about LMP and what it stood for. I can't imagine many teenagers even coming into contact with the phrase. I think I have only ever been asked in relation to pregnancy and smear tests before. Lara is a lovely name. Please don't give it up because of that it's really silly. If you're really worried then give her another middle name to break it up.

Lemur12 · 09/06/2021 12:19

No, it's totally fine.

EasterIssland · 09/06/2021 12:19

another one thinking you're overthinking it, I had to come in and check what you meant!

kitkatsky · 09/06/2021 12:19

The name we chose meant my daughter would also have those initials so we added another middle name just in case! I agree with everyone else that it probably wouldn't be an issue but it bothered me a bit- prob from spending too long on the conception boards on here!

Theunamedcat · 09/06/2021 12:21

Its also an Indian railway

My dd initials are VD she uses her middle name when initials are required tbh no one ever noticed

Bluey18 · 09/06/2021 12:25

I'm pregnant right now and it didn't occur to me what it stood for until I opened the thread 🙈🤣. Honestly, I think you will be fine!! Lovely name 😊
