Can’t use my only boy name

Due in 5 weeks time. We have seriously struggled with a boys name we both agree on, we finally found one a few weeks ago and I felt really settled on it, I don’t 100% love it but I seriously haven’t come across anything else I wanted to consider.

The name is Archer. A family member has just announced her babies birth and this is her babies name! Typical! But it is what it is, we never told anyone so it’s just a complete coincidence.

So if I liked Archer, what else might I like? Please help!

Arlo, Asher, Sawyer, Jasper?

We struggled with boy names too, so I sympathise.

Fletcher
Lorcan
Asa
Morgan
Sawyer
Logan
Brodie
Riley
Conrad

Wilbur?

tedsletterofthelaw · 04/06/2021 11:32

Can you definitely not use it or will it be too awkward?

Tbh, unless it was a sibling, I'd still use it (say if my cousin used it).

Fivemoreminutes1 · 04/06/2021 11:36

Hunter
Hudson
Boden
Dawson
Chester
Blake
Oakley
Ellis
Beckett

MrsXx4 · 04/06/2021 11:38

Ooh I like Jasper! And I also quite like Sawyer!

We could maybe still use the name, it wouldn’t personally offend me if someone used the same name as I did but I know that others can get a bit protective of their kids names and get funny about it.

Please don’t use the same name, I only ever see that said on MN, irl most people would just pick a different name. It’s a family member, pick something else.

MrsXx4 · 04/06/2021 11:39

I keep seeing Hudson, it’s growing on me for sure.

I really like Ellis too but have a very close friend with a boy named Ellis.

I also don’t mind Blake.

I have a son already called Noah if it helps.

@ColaOlaLa yeah you are probably right. It’s also not really a common name so it could look very much like we just copied her when we saw her babies name.

Yeah I find boys names really hard! We have a girls name we both love and agree on so at least that’s sorted but I have a strong feeling this baby is another boy.

I really like Seth and Isaac but DH has said no to both of those names previously.

He has said no to Hudson which is a shame as it’s really sticking with me at the moment.

I love the suggestion of Asher. Goes with Noah brilliantly.

stressfuljune · 04/06/2021 12:15

Hudson or Hunter

CassTheFox · 04/06/2021 12:17

If you like Ellis.. what about Elias?

Or Xander sounds a little bit like Archer?! Good luck deciding I’m sure you’ll find the perfect one

DifferentHair · 04/06/2021 12:25

Archer
Hunter
Cooper
Ryder

There's a medieval profession trend, I've probably missed some.

BiBabbles · 04/06/2021 12:26

Asher

MrsXx4 · 04/06/2021 12:29

Yes! Love Asher I must of missed that suggestion earlier somehow.

I also really like Cooper.

Hmmm.....Evan is quite nice.

And yes we discussed Archie as an alternative to Archer, I’m not sure, I know that’s silly as it’s practically the same name but it just makes me think of Harry and Meg.

Grayson? Or Harrison?

Ifonlyidknownthen · 04/06/2021 12:44

I can't help thinking the names we had back in the 80s and 90s were nice and will most certainly make a comeback at some point but won't be too common in the generations being born now, which is good imo.

Such as

Stephen/steven
Christopher
Micheal
Mark
Matthew
David
Robert
Daniel
