What names do you like but you have only ever met one of before?

My sister is pregnant for the first time at 43 and wants an unusual but real name and wants some inspiration.

I named my own after only once ever hearing someone called the name.

Dd1. She's the only one in England with her name in at least the last 17 years.

There are a fair few spelt with the -yn ending (pronounced -in), hers is -en. Still uncommon though!

Dd2's name has appeared several times on this list.

Ooh I’m interested how you know that about your daughter? ONS publish all with more than 3 babies per name each year so there may be others which have been named as your DD but not enough to make the list? Love unusual names so obvs dying to know 😄

These threads are fascinating - it really makes it clear how popularity varies region ally. I'm amazed that there are people on here who've only ever met one Teddy or Harriet, but I do think you get little pockets of names popping up locally - basically once one person in your town has gone for it, others tend to follow!

Having said that, I've only ever met one Lux, but she's only little so perhaps in a few years it'll be different.

I know a 5 year old boy called Adonis.
