Celina?

Also what do you think of the spellings
Selina
Selena

I like the moon & heavenly meanings equally. I slightly prefer Celina because I think it’s prettier. Thoughts?

It’s a nice name.

I think Selena is probably the auto-spelling so would be easiest, followed by Celina.

Wavymess · 01/05/2021 12:42

Selena is nicer

I also like Cassie - Cassiopeia if you like a c / celestial name

Spied · 01/05/2021 12:44

Beautiful.
I prefer the Selena spelling.
Celina reminds me of Celine Dion.

PattyPan · 01/05/2021 12:51

I think it’s a nice name but prefer the spelling Selena because Celina looks a bit like ceiling

MooseMoose · 01/05/2021 13:09

Nice. I prefer Selena as a spelling, otherwise I just think of Celine Dion. I do prefer Serena though. Also Seren (welsh for star), Phoebe (associated with the moon), and Lyra is also lovely - a constellation I believe.

DinosaurDiana · 01/05/2021 13:10

I prefer Selina. Celina reminds me of Celine (Dion).

AuntieStella · 01/05/2021 13:17

Prefer Selena , as that's closer to the classical roots and just looks 'right' to me.

But Selina Scott didn't spell it like that, and I think she remains best known person of that name.

I don't like the spelling Celina, no good reason, just looks wrong

PattyPan · 01/05/2021 13:23

@AuntieStella I think Selena Gomez is probably better known than Selina Scott?

AuntieStella · 01/05/2021 13:25

Who is Selena Gomez?

Not teasing, I've really never heard of her!

Helenluvsrob · 01/05/2021 13:27

Nice but use S not C as people will find it challenging ...

BackforGood · 01/05/2021 13:34

I don't think anyone but you will know what the 'meaning' of a name is, so go for one you like as a name.

Selena is alright. I'd spell it with an S rather than a C as I think that is how it is 'expected' to be spelled

(I have no idea who Selena Gomez is either)

Tittybittybangbang · 01/05/2021 13:35

I don’t associate Selena with the heavens. Not like I would Celeste.

PattyPan · 01/05/2021 14:17

Selena Gomez is an American pop singer and actress. She’s had a couple of top 10 hits in the U.K. and been in various things, I think she started out on the Disney channel.

PattyPan · 01/05/2021 14:21

I would say Selena Gomez is probably roughly as famous as Justin Bieber? And known to/popular with the same sort of demographic.

UpAt5amAgain · 01/05/2021 14:25

I've never heard of Selina Scott. Maybe it's an age thing as I have heard of Selena Gomez

elliemara · 01/05/2021 14:26

Celina is beautiful! Only ever met lovely ones too Smile

Springbankholiday · 01/05/2021 17:14

Thanks everyone! Really love Celina over Selena though although I understand where you’re all coming from. Selena just looks like too many e’s! And I like prefer C names over S names, cannot explain why, I have no idea! Hmm Sometimes Celina does look a bit cold though if that makes sense. If this sounds ridiculous, then maybe my hormones are all over the place! Haha.

Thaanks @PattyPan

Ellmau · 01/05/2021 18:24

I think Selina is the most traditional spelling in English, but Celina is fine.

YoniAndGuy · 01/05/2021 18:29

I'd say Selina is the traditional British spelling, I know one. Like ti lots

Not Celina, sounds like a car! And wrong. And as if you meant Celia.

I get what you mean about the letter though. How about Celia/Clelia/Cecilia?

TheYearOfSmallThings · 01/05/2021 18:34

I like Celina, but if you really want to go for it Celestina or Celestia are even more heavenly.

MimiSunshine · 01/05/2021 18:36

We liked it and considered it and also prefer Celina too.

CelinaAce · 01/05/2021 18:46

Celina is my middle name. I really like it. Go for it! 😉

Springbankholiday · 02/05/2021 09:54

Thanks everyone! Still not convinced that we should rule out Celina - is this spelling really that bad? @YoniAndGuy which car is it? I’ve never heard of it Shock

She will be forever correcting people’s spelling of her name as most will go straight to the s first letter.

However, it is easy to pronounce which is good. It is a nice name, does well in all situations from cute baby up to boardroom.

I love Cassie, either as a diminutive of Cassandra or as a stand a lone.
