Names for boys (aristocratic/posh/fancy)

Hi All!
Looking for a fancy sounding middle name for our son.
We're from a family who're used to really quite fancy names - but we chose to go for something pretty middle of the road by their standards for our boy. Because of this, it'd be great to find a sophisticated middle name for him instead.
And before you start with comments about 'posh' and upper class and 'why would you want your son to have a posh name' and all the class warrior stuff, there's no need. Preferences are preferences and we don't need to get into a debate on the ridiculous class system in this country, we get it.
Names we considered Hugo, Montgomery, Rafferty, etc. Nothing too extreme like Ptolemy or anything - they're not THAT posh!
DS name begins with L.
Thanks for your help :-)

how about using your own family name, or your mother's ?

alexdgr8 · 07/02/2021 04:39

I’m surprised nobody has mentioned Titus.

... But it might sound a bit pretentious if you are not part of the right circle.

Inarightpickleandpreserve · 07/02/2021 05:49

Anyone mentioned Mungo yet

MrWendel · 07/02/2021 05:53

OP, why not just look back through both sides of the family tree when choosing names, to find something classic that you like? Confused

Vinceypie · 07/02/2021 05:58

My wife and I love the name Hugo but we just aren't posh enough to pull it off haha!

TramaDollface · 07/02/2021 06:29

Hello OP.
Posh here.
I have a Sebastian, and a Gabriel.

timeisnotaline · 07/02/2021 08:21

@LindaCartersBun

Think of the posh men I know:

Gilbert
Gideon
StJohn (Singe-un)
Edgar
Nicholas (never Nick!)

@LindaCartersBun do you actually know a st John? What is he like? What are his family’s names like? I’m quite jealous, I love it but would never dare use it!!
midsomermurderess · 07/02/2021 09:09

Mungo's the patron Saint of Glasgow. Is it posh?

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 07/02/2021 09:10

Did someone really just suggest Cyril?! 😂

Go to the Telegraph’s birth announcement section.

Plenty of posh names there (and ones who sound as if they’ve been named for a favourite golden retriever)

Trillo · 07/02/2021 17:05

How posh are we talking?

Peerage posh? If so, choose the name of a king, or one of Jane Austen’s brothers.

Grandfather grew up dirt poor but made a mint and sent his sons - including your husband - to public school posh? Sholto, Cosmo, Hugo, Inigo, Jago.

Country gentry but not quite posh? One of Jesus’s disciples.

Jay1289 · 07/02/2021 17:26

I know it’s a cartoon character but I love the names Sterling or Archer

Crankley · 07/02/2021 20:01

If you want posh AND different:

Ichabod
