To name Harry??

So me & my ex husband have a son together (he's 9), he has 2 other children (late teens/ early twenties). Me & my partner have a son together & another baby on the way. We don't know the sex of the baby yet but we've started to think about names. We had trouble naming our son as we couldn't agree, the only name we can now both agree on for this one is Harry but my ex husbands eldest is called Harry so technically mine & my ex husband son together already has a brother called Harry, would it be wrong for us to name ours (if its a boy obviously) Harry so my eldest has 2 brothers, well half brothers called Harry?
@WellityWellityWellity

I can't stand the name Henry no idea why!
We had a whole discussion over Max with our other son, OH wanted Maximillion on birth certificate but shorted to Max for eveyday, told him we may as well just call him Max & put it on the birth certificate (I dont like Maximillion anyway so dont want it on birth certificate) an argument neither of us won so went with Toby. I do like Charlie but it doesn't go to well with the OH surname.
As for asking DS he doesn't know he's getting another brother or sister just yet but I may ask once we know if we are having another boy.
Go with Max then.

WellityWellityWellity · 31/01/2021 09:47

Yeah, on balance, I'd go Max. It's a proper name on it's own, (which Harry technically isn't, traditionally - only as he wants a long name on BC but is then insisting on Harry). It's also a lot nicer than Harry imo.

WellityWellityWellity · 31/01/2021 09:47

Its own*

Marrilou · 31/01/2021 10:04

Oh sorry I misunderstood - will blame late night reading! Grin That def makes a big difference and I prob wouldn't shy away from using Harry in that case if you really love it.

RuthW · 31/01/2021 10:35

No you can't call him Henry.

RuthW · 31/01/2021 10:35

I mean, Harry. What about Henry.

Popcorn24 · 31/01/2021 10:41

@RuthW

I can't stand Henry... apologies to anyone who has a Henry!

I’d go for Max

Sausagedog1 · 31/01/2021 13:13

I really wouldn't go with Harry. I like Max.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 31/01/2021 13:22

Definitely not. Surely your oh can think of another name he's happy with. The suggestion to look at other Lee names is a good idea. And I agree, Harry doesn't go so great with it. I think if your ds has two brothers called Harry it sort of makes less of being a brother, we can have friends with the same name but not siblings imo.

MyDcAreMarvel · 31/01/2021 13:25

Just call your son an actual name rather than a nickname. And think for yourself.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 31/01/2021 13:41

So your potential Harry doesn't have a parent in common with the other Harry. I don't see a problem. The boys name I've got picked out is the same as my first baby's half brother. Like a said if they had a parent in common then it would obviously be weird.

fluffygreenmonsterhoody · 31/01/2021 13:48

Had anyone mentioned Henry? What about that OP? Wink

Popcorn24 · 31/01/2021 14:03

@MyDcAreMarvel

No need to be quite so rude "And think for your self"
I am more than capable of thinking for my self I was just asking for others opinions as a lot of people do on here, I hadn't asked people to suggest other names but people are nice & they are trying to help out, maybe if you've got nothing nice or helpful to say you should just scroll past, thank goodness everyone that has commented isn't rude like you, let's hope you never need any advice, you'll just have to 'think for your self' 🤣🤣🤣

You're right, Lee is a surprisingly hard surname to match!

How about George? George Lee works. Or Arthur. Blake or Dylan, maybe?

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 31/01/2021 14:12

DH has just suggested Stephen and Ryan, both of which I think work.

Having said that, I think you could use Harry under the circumstances. It's not like the other Harry is a big part of any of your lives. And it's not uncommon for names to be reused in families - 90% of my family are called Frank, John or Chris, if male, and Mary, Anne or Kath if female! Grin

WellityWellityWellity · 31/01/2021 14:25

Frederick (Freddie)?

Freddie Lee? I like it!

Ooooor Joseph (Joe / Joey)?

RandomUsernameHere · 31/01/2021 14:34

I don't see the issue. The older Harry is already an adult so I doubt that anyone is going to get confused about which Harry is being referred to!

PeanutButtaCups · 31/01/2021 14:48

I think Freddie is nice as well, Freddie Lee works

Popcorn24 · 31/01/2021 15:16

We have a cat called Freddie!

PatchworkElmer · 31/01/2021 15:23

I wouldn’t personally.

WellityWellityWellity · 31/01/2021 15:24

Ha! Hmmm

Archie
John(ny) - my favourite! Johnny Lee sounds so cool!
Thomas (Tommy...oh maybe not Tommy Lee - sounds a bit like a pair of jeans)
Jesse
Dylan
Felix

MargosKaftan · 31/01/2021 15:43

I also would think its unfair on your dc1 to have 2 brothers called Harry, if anything it will highlight to him that he hasn't got one family.

Also with the surname Lee id avoid anything with a "y" or "ie" ending. It won't flow well. Or give the baby your surname/double barrel it with your name first to avoid the Finn Lee issue...

My suggestions:
Jasper
Ben / Benjamin
Dylan
Joshua
Hugo
Zac / Isaac
Scott

Alakasam · 01/02/2021 11:39

We have a Max who is just "Max" but does have two middle names, so maybe balances it out! We didn't like any of the longer versions at all, so Max it was! Obviously I'm biased, but it was really the only boy's name we really loved (now due DS2 and completely lost!!)

SmeleanorSmellstrop · 01/02/2021 14:12

I don't think using Harry is at all appropriate. Your son would have two brothers of the same name which is just bizarre. I think you need to choose another name.
