Wondering which one is a better name for a boy. Surname ends in -Ton or -Ley. Thanks in advance.

I prefer Quentin to Tristan. But don’t think either would work with a -ton ending surname.

Tristram is worse, literally awful I don’t think you understand the meaning of the word “literally”.

I have 4 kids. My eldest child is in his 20s and my youngest is17. Between them, they have 3 friends called Tristan. All 3 have a younger brother called Quentin. Is this like a weird cult?!!

Neither with -ton but Quentin with -ley

FigDate · 13/02/2021 03:26

How about John

I love Quentin! I know a couple young ones do it appears to be becoming more popular. It's strong, classic and Q is a cool initial.

Tristan is ok but feels a little 'sad', maybe it's the French word triste (sad) that influences me.

Good luck op Smile

MimiDaisy11 · 02/03/2021 12:20

I seem to be at odds with most but I really don't like Tristan. I much prefer Quentin.

Violetlavenders · 21/03/2021 19:36

Both Quentin and Tristan would probably sound better with the -Ley surname.

Good luck!

Sadsiblingatsea · 21/03/2021 19:39

If he’s called Tristan he will end up working for the BBC.

Unless you're really posh those names just come across to me as desperately wanting to be seen as posh. If Sheridan Bucket had a younger brother he would 100% be Quentin or Tristan.

Violetlavenders · 21/03/2021 20:06

Unless you're really posh

What does that even mean? Do you have to be 'educated' or 'wealthy' to use certain names? Confused

We have a Quentin in the family and we're not at all 'posh'. He's a lovely, slightly cheeky boy who goes to our local state school.

Tristan is much nicer IMO. I really dislike Quentin I think it should be left in the past.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 22/03/2021 09:56

Tristan

PattyPan · 22/03/2021 20:40

I know a Tristan and a Quentin. I think Quentin is a nicer name though maybe harder to pull off. I don't like that Tristan means sad!
