Completely torn between two 'boring' names!

I'm beginning to panic a bit as we still haven't settled on a name for our baby girl- and I'm desperate not to wait until she's here to decide (so please don't suggest that as an option!)

We love both Emily and Alice. I've always loved Emily and that's the name we settled on at first and started using it to refer to bump. But I felt that we hadn't tried hard enough to explore all options and after reading the whole baby name book I thought Alice was nice. My husband prefers Alice too (although he does like Emily).

So we settled on Alice thinking it was slightly more underused and I got very excited about it. But we keep on accidentally referring to her as Emily still and I can't help but feel in my gut I prefer the name Emily?

So which do you think? Emily or Alice?

If maybe you wanted something similar to that I’d suggest Emilia .

I much prefer Emily but Alice is a fine normal name.

Both are such lovely names and fit your criteria perfectly. Neither are trendy and as you say both are falling in the charts so is an excellent time to pick one of them @intheshallows

Oh and Emily is NOT twee whatsoever! If I had to pick I think I'd go with Emily but Alice is perfect too

Dd was Emily until I wasn’t 36 weeks pregnant and there were loads of Emily’s born which put me off. Our local paper used to do birth announcement and every second one was an Emily, so we changed our minds. Dd now 17 but we still like Emily but Dd prefers her name over Emily.

Alice just reminds me of the song. Alice? Alice, who the f* is Alice?

Both are great!
Alice is my favourite, makes me think of the magic and wonder of Alice in Wonderland.
But if you’ve been calling bump Emily maybe you’ve already subconsciously decided.
Emmie is a cute nickname too.
