Don't like boys names :(

Honestly, why are boys so hard.

Found out No 2 on the way is a boy today. Even before this we gave up talking about boys as couldn't agree on any, I literally struggle to like any.

Nameless baby boy at this rate

Anyone else who struggled, what did you go with?

I agree: boys names are so much harder than girls names! This is my list- never shown to anyone before but I've made this list over the years and whenever I like a boys name I write it down. I've gone off a lot of them but hope it helps a little

It's a pain isn't it! When I first got pregnant we started looking at names and found 0 boys names we liked and it turned out that pregnancy was twin boys.. we now have 3 boys Grin took ages finding names but eventually found ones we loved and which all go together. Stick with it you'll figure it out or you'll look at him and just know 💡

partyatthepalace · 16/01/2021 22:38

What’s the first one called - to give a clue as to what you like?

Echobelly · 16/01/2021 22:42

Gavriel/Gabriel
Aaron
Daniel
Edward/Edwin
Xander

longestlurkerever · 16/01/2021 22:46

I had dds in the end but we struggled to agree on boys' names. I liked James, Edward, Ivan, Kieran, Rex. Dh liked none of the above.

MrsMeanwhile · 16/01/2021 22:47

Try this to help you name your baby boy. It's how we named ours.

What sort of style name do you like @ChunkyButFunky87

What girls names do you like? What boys names can you tolerate even if you don't love?

Is popularity a factor for you or not a concern?

Would be helpful to have something to work with @ChunkyButFunky87

ChunkyButFunky87 · 17/01/2021 13:08

@partyatthepalace @FluffyEggsontoast my daughter is called Scarlett.

I work in Early years so it's really hard not to associate names with nuisance children Grin

I do like Ryan & Liam but husband is a firm no, he hasn't got much else to offer in replacement though

We are the same...at least 10 girls names
I love. Boys wouldn't say love but we like two....Francis (Frankie) or Kit

Mochatatts · 17/01/2021 13:26

I really struggled with boys names. There were very few I liked. Eldest is Taylor, which came from some film credits. Don't even remember the film now.
Youngest is Blake, who was a friend of Taylor's at nursery.
OHs boys are David after his dad and Paul after a really good work colleague he had who basically kept him working when he was struggling with other issues.
Have you got any family names you could use?
Now we're having a daughter and she's no name yet because there are too many we kind of like but none we love. It's so hard to choose.

BiBabbles · 17/01/2021 13:26

I found looking to men we admire - in family, friends, people we've known and historical - worked well for finding names (though I did spend quite a lot of time on behindthename making lists and polls).

My older son is named after a childhood hero of my spouse's.
My younger son is named after a relative.

Spied · 17/01/2021 13:31

Ryan and Liam were on my list for ds.
Also on my list were

If you like Liam but oh doesn't, what about William ?
I think Dominic goes nicely with Scarlet.

AnxiousAnnie86 · 17/01/2021 14:22

@ChunkyButFunky87 I was exactly the same not a single name I liked for boys! I was absolutely convinced it was a boy!! Then the day of the scan to find out last week we decided on a boys name!!! Fell in love with the name completely then we found out we are having a girl! Which we are over the moon about but now can't think of a girls name! The name we decided on was Stanley Thomas xxx

Babydust13 · 17/01/2021 14:53

We're in the same boat we had 4 girls names we loved and then found out we're having a boy and we have nothing 🤦🏻‍♀️ I've been searching high and low and nothing yet

finallychangedmyusername · 17/01/2021 16:01

I think these boy names all go well with Scarlett - something with a literary subtle link would be nice (which these all have):

Toby
Magnus
Rufus
Nathaniel
Quentin
Lawrence
Sawyer

finallychangedmyusername · 17/01/2021 16:01

Actually, scrap Rufus.... WAY too much of a red theme! Grin

partyatthepalace · 17/01/2021 16:20

Aha, I like Scarlett

Well @partyatthepalace Jackson has been suggested funnily enough. I'm warming to it!

MrsWhistledown · 17/01/2021 17:31

I find boys names tougher than girls names too!

My favourites are:
Arlo
Isaac
Lincoln
Sebastian

Arlo has been mine and my DH top name for 7 or 8 years and I was kind of sad when it started to rise in popularity but it doesn't put me off!

partyatthepalace · 17/01/2021 20:22

Scarlett and Jackson are a good combo, that’s for sure
