Hi everyone, you've helped us so much with comments on various names. We have been swinging back and forth with long names shortened to nice nicknames, vetoed about 100 as I've discovered I'm truly fussy!! Now undecided between Emilia, Daisy and Ella. Family told me kindly that daisy is a cows name which has completely put us off despite it being a forerunner initially. Now I'm just thinking that simple is better! Ella, common yes, but pretty? I know that Amelia and Emilia which are our other options seem to be far more popular here than Ella, but what are your thoughts?

We liked Alice but couldn't get over 'a lice'

Weep. I'm even annoying myself with the indecision. With my son, we knew instantly we were told he was a boy. I hate not feeling certain.

Maybe wait until she's born to see what she looks like. I couldn't decide with last DD but after a few days with her a name I hadn't even contemplated yet came to me. Good luck.

Some names that give me a similar vibe to Ella:
Katie
Faye
Lucie
Gabriella
Anna
Maria
Eliana
Sasha
Polly
Juliet
Nina
Lara

I know teenagers called Ella. My kids have a Daisy, Evie, a Mimi and Millie (short for Amelia), Izzy/Bella/Ella (all short for Isabel/Isabella) and a couple Emilys, so it's very ommon for 15-18 year olds. We did consider Sienna for our girl, but it was peak Sienna Miller fame, but not so much now.
I like Ava too.

Sorry but I find Ella utterly dull, just wet. It’s like it’s missing a beginning.

I know a 29 year old Ella - it's timeless and lovely.

Elizabeth?

I find it very dull, but there's nothing actually "wrong" with it. Use it if you love it!
