Which do you prefer?

I like both.

I'm old enough to remember old ladies being called Daisy so I don't struggle to imagine it on an older person.

Passiveobserver · 17/01/2021 16:04

Both lovely names but I suppose I always think what would ‘I’ rather be called and I would personally prefer Sophia.
Sometimes it depends on the child though, they might look more like one of those names than the other Smile

I dislike Daisy, prefer Sophia.

Liana2021 · 18/01/2021 00:16

Daisy. I love it, gives me Great Gatsby vibes and not as cutesy as other flower names. Daisy stands the test of time thanks to it’s literary references (Poppy is too young and cutesy for my taste).
My best friend chose Sophia for her girl and is now annoyed that it’s so popular.

Flippy87 · 18/01/2021 00:20

Definitely Sophia. Daisy too cute and babyish for my liking

Prefer Daisy. Don’t dislike Sophia, but it’s so popular around here.

Daisy

Starsandglitter · 18/01/2021 15:24

They are both lovely names but I wouldn’t say Daisy is underused, it’s definitely in the top 50 for names. Sophia is more popular especially if you include the Sofia spelling (and even factor in Sophie too) Daisy Sophia as someone suggested is very sweet

KirstenBlest · 19/01/2021 19:19

Sophia is by far the better of the two, but I know loads of them.
Daisy is nice but a bit twee.

Namechange8471 · 23/01/2021 21:40

Daisy is perfect!

Sophia is quite dated now, and to me it has an ugly sound.

ClementineFox · 23/01/2021 23:30

I love Sophia! I think it’s elegant and beautiful.

Daisy is very sweet also, and someone said on another thread that they had a Daisy and loved buying them Daisy things. I think it’s a lovely kids name but can’t see it working as well on an adult.

You could keep both names on the shortlist and see what she looks like when she arrives?

ClementineFox · 23/01/2021 23:32

(I mean clothes with daisies on, in case that was unclear!)

bluegreenred · 23/01/2021 23:46

Sophia is a beautiful name, one of my all time favourites.

adeleh · 24/01/2021 03:38

I love both. If I had two daughters I’d love them to be Daisy and Sophia.

And big respect to Daisy the forensic pathologist - she sounds very cool. I know an academic called Daisy - hugely respected and not cute in the least. She’s actually quite intimidating.

Sophia. Daisy is very cute on a toddler/young child but I wouldn't want to be lumbered with it as an adult. Sophie/Sophia is lovely.
