Thoughts on the name Piers

I’ve always liked the name Piers. As Piers Morgan has become a household name over the years I’m concerned people would immediately associate the name with him and he isn’t necessarily well liked. Would this put you off using the name?

For me, it’s the ultimate association with incredibly posh man who has never had to live a normal life thinking about how to earn a living. Not entirely sure why as I’ve only ever known one and he didn’t fit that description.

I know a Piers through a friend and he’s the antithesis of Piers Morgan so to me it’s a nice (certainly not posh) name but it’s interesting to hear wider views and confirms my concerns!

It's a no from me too. Images of very posh English men.

Dreadful. Both for the Piers Morgan thing but I also know a right twat called Piers.

It’s very popular where I’m from, but with the spelling Pearse rather than Piers or Pierce. I wouldn’t think of Piers Morgan at all with Pearse spelling.

I'm sure I overheard a child being called Piers in one of our local parks.

I do think of Piers Morgan, but I also know it's a 'proper' name as well, so I'm sure I'd get over it in a very short time.
