Any views on the names Nicole, Lorna or Stella?

My DP also likes Sophia, but since it is so popular I am not sure in case she will be one of five in her class!

Nicole - slapper

Lorna - middle aged woman who Luke's to make muffins

Stella - just brings up Stella Macartney or the lager

*likes

LilacSloth · 07/01/2021 16:58

I really like both Nicole and Lorna. Not so keen on Stella.

EdgeOfACoin · 07/01/2021 17:01

I like Lorna.

17caterpillars1mouse · 07/01/2021 17:01

Stella is growing on me after recently watching 'The fall' on iplayer

Nicole is unusual nowadays and is a lovely name

I like Lorna too but a lot of the other L names are really popular atm. I prefer Larna too

DramaAlpaca · 07/01/2021 17:15

I really like Lorna, always had a soft spot for it. I've only ever met one.

Stella, like it but slightly prefer Estella.

Nicole, very 90s. I like it better now than I did then, and I prefer it to Nicola.

Kanaloa · 07/01/2021 17:16

All are absolutely fine names. I like Nicole best, then Stella and Lorna last.

Alwayswrongneverright · 07/01/2021 17:23

Love 😍 lorna
Like nicole
Don't like stella

Divebar · 07/01/2021 17:25

I’m not sure how helpful this is. 😂

I like Stella first then Lorna. Not fussed about Nicole.

emmathedilemma · 07/01/2021 17:26

I think they're all quite late 70's / 80's sort of names, or at least everyone I associate them with is in that age bracket. I don't mind Lorna or Stella but I can't get that awful Renault advert out of my head for Nicole!

SionnachRua · 07/01/2021 17:28

I actually really like Nicole. Bit dated maybe but will come back strong and absolutely a million times better than the frilly names that trend.

Lorna is very pretty also.

Don't like Stella, makes me think of beer.

Definitely not Sophia, that's so generic.

20viona · 07/01/2021 17:29

Dreadful

KirstenBlest · 07/01/2021 17:32

Nicole - dated, not keen anyway
Lorna - Lorna Doone, depends on accent
Stella - like because it was a friend's name

Bobbybobbins · 07/01/2021 17:35

I think they are all ok

Prefer Estelle or Estella to Stella

Iona could be another option if you like Lorna?

hiredandsqueak · 07/01/2021 17:35

I like Lorna a lot, I don't mind Stella, not keen on Nicole as that seems dated to me.

Peachbubble · 07/01/2021 17:54

I like Lorna, makes me think of Lorna Doone. Nicole is OK, but will probably be shortened to Nicky, which I don't particularly like. Not keen on Stella, not sure why.

lalafafa · 07/01/2021 18:03

They're all really old-fashioned

ScaredOfDinosaurs · 07/01/2021 18:35

Thanks so much for the feedback everyone, really helpful!

I’ve always liked Stella. I don’t know any either. The other 2 are ok , Nicole is my least favourite I can’t explain why.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 07/01/2021 19:10

I really have a soft spot for Lorna. Some people consider it a little dated, but I don't think it's ever been popular enough to date. It reminds me of Lorna Doone, so I find it a beautiful, romantic name.

Stella is also really pretty - I prefer the elegant Estella, but Stella's nice.

Nicole is my least favourite - feels a bit 70/80's to me.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 07/01/2021 19:11

Sophia is gorgeous but with all the Sophie's and Sofia's too, is too popular for me.

PepsiArcade · 07/01/2021 19:15

I like Stella but Nicole and Lorna both sound quite dated to me.

jay55 · 07/01/2021 19:22

They were all mean girls in my school in the 80s.

Firebird83 · 07/01/2021 22:22

Stella is the only one I like.

Nicole - mum in her 30s

Lorna - dinner lady in her 50s
