Middle names for Indian name Anoushka?

Tropicalsun56 · 03/01/2021 19:18

We were thinking of going in one of these directions, either to have a nature-inspired Indo/Western middle name or to have a traditional Indian name.

Nature Inspired:
Anoushka Celina
Anoushka Rose
Anoushka Lily
(Can’t think of any others, suggestions are welcome!!)

Indian:
Anoushka Leela
Anoushka Radhika (I am aware of the double “ka” ending but love the name, it is associated to an important family member)
Anoushka Ria
Anoushka Meera/Mira
Anoushka Parineeti (associated to family member)
Any other ideas are welcome! :)

Lovely names.

I would be tempted to go all out and have three names, I think Anoushka Mira Radhika flows well, I rather like the three a and the repeated ka.

FelicityPike · 03/01/2021 19:26

I like it with Celina. I like the way you’re spelling it.
Maybe Anoushka Celina Radhika?
Beautiful names.

I like Rose as the middle name as it flows nicely, it's extremely popular as a middle name though.

Tropicalsun56 · 03/01/2021 20:23

@viques @FelicityPike Thank you, those are great suggestions! I like the sound of both!

@scrivette I also like Rose, I’m slightly put off by its popularity though

Anoushka Parineeti is beautiful!

ZadieZadie · 03/01/2021 21:12

Agree with PPs that two middle names would be lovely.

I like Anouskha Radhika Celine (not Celina as there are too many As).

August20 · 03/01/2021 21:15

I like Anoushka Parineeti and Anoushka Rose.

August20 · 03/01/2021 21:15

I mean, many of your options are lovely, those are just the two I liked the best.

LynetteScavo · 03/01/2021 21:30

Anoushka Maya

Tropicalsun56 · 03/01/2021 22:26

@mathanxiety thank you for all the wonderful suggestions, some really good ones on that list!

@penpox @August20 do you think the pronunciation of Parineeti will be an issue?

@ZadieZadie I agree! Although I’m not so keen on Celine. There are quite a few a ending names on the list but it’s hard to avoid as most Indian names end in either “I” or “A”. I guess I could use Parineeti to break it up a bit

@LynetteScavo I like the sound of Maya but not keen on the meaning in Sanskrit

I like Anoushka Rose

I have a complicated forrin name and a one syllable middle name is better i think.

August20 · 03/01/2021 22:34

@Tropicalsun56

Well middle names are not used that often but I don't think it would be too much of an issue.

I am assuming it is pronounced the same as for Parineeti Chopra?

penpox · 03/01/2021 22:45

Agree that middle names aren't said very often at all (unless you're saying your own, and even then, not frequently!). I don't think there would be huge pronunciation issues either.

I like that there is a family link and it is a gorgeous name Smile

Doyoumind · 03/01/2021 22:49

Isn't Anoushka Russian?

Jelly4444 · 03/01/2021 23:05

Anoushka Meera is beautiful!

june2007 · 03/01/2021 23:10

Is Anoushka Indian? I thought it was Russian. Actually Although I think Rose is over usedout of all the combo,s above it is the best or Anoushka Lily.

Tropicalsun56 · 03/01/2021 23:16

Thank you for all your comments! Yes, Anoushka is also an Indian name and has a separate meaning in Sanskrit. It’s a very popular name.

I also just thought of Anoushka Indira which I’ve added to the list...

I love Parineeti for the middle name but I'm probably biased as i love traditional sounding indian names.

Tropicalsun56 · 04/01/2021 20:20

@Yogaposer I adore that name, it’s a big contender! I just wonder if DD will be annoyed if we give her such an unusual middle name. For some reason, I feel like Radhika, Leela, Celina are a bit more established as names than Parineeti, so it’s one of the more risky ones.

Yogaposer · 04/01/2021 22:38

Radhika is beautiful as well. Good luck choosing Smile

Tropicalsun56 · 05/01/2021 06:57

@Yogaposer Thank you! :) It’s so tough deciding!

Do you like Indrani? Little girls in India aren’t called Indira any more because Mrs Gandhi has been judged so badly by history.
