What's your opinion on the name Nancy? I'd like to know if anyone associates it with anything in particular and just a general consensus!

Really don't like it. Just immediately think Nancy Boy

CodMouth · 25/03/2021 08:01

Nancy Boy was actually by Placebo.

HerLadySheep · 25/03/2021 08:04

Love it! We have family members called Nancy so I might be slightly biased though! I think it works well at all ages from baby to old age.

babyfish2 · 25/03/2021 08:10

Thank you all. We did end up naming her Nancy, she's 5 weeks old now😊

Nancy Drew, Nancy from Stranger Things, Nancy Boy by Placebo

Not keen I'm afraid - reminds me of spiders, the slightly irritating character from Peep Show, plus the old homophobic slur. Potential to be shortened to 'nan' which I dislike. Mind you, i met someone with a dd called Patsy the other day, which I see as being quite similar, so it may be that these kind of names are on the up.

It’s been my name for 45 years, nobody has ever shortened it to Nan!

Roselilly36 · 25/03/2021 19:03

Just seen your update, how lovely, many congrats on baby Nancy Flowers

Nevic84 · 25/03/2021 19:43

Congratulations on baby Nancy!! I think I’ve restarted your thread off.
My Nancy dose get shorted to nan which I like.
Your always going to get name divides even names like Emily and Charlotte people will have opinions.
What I love about Nancy is how elegant and sophisticated it sounds and how unusual.
She starts secondary school in September so I’m a bit apprehensive about how other kids will react especially the homophobic slur.
There is always a few small minded bigots.
But enjoy your beautiful daughters unique name because most people will always say “ what did you say her name was? Nancy that’s such a beautiful name, I love it “

kylie122 · 25/03/2021 19:44

I think of an old woman also reminds me of the witch in the craft the crazy one
