Albie or Arlo ?

What do we think of Albie or Arlo?

Personally loving them, my only issue is I can picture a baby, young child and older man with the name... but not a teenager or young adult!

I do love the names but I’m worried will he suit it when he’s a teenager / young adult?

Anyone else loved names like these and named their child it without worry!

I like Albie.
But not Arlo.

I like Arlo too. Like pp suggestion of Alvin and Alvie!

I know an Alby think it was short for Alban. I don't mind Arlo just not a huge fan of o names.

Albie is horrendous. I can't imagine any grown man wanting that name. Arlo is nearly just as bad. Maybe for a dog, not a human being.

I can think of a ton of names it's better then. MNs is weird with names, anything deviating from the top 10 is frowned upon.

I have one of those odd ethnic names that is hard to pronounce, well yes because it's in another language! and no, was never teased because of my name.

Alban is good.

Like Albie

Not keen on Arlo - I know quite a few toddlers with the name and when I hear the parents say the name it always sounds to me like they are saying 'Harlow' and dropping the H.

I like both but Arlo is really trendy and I think it will date. Albie is better as a nn for Albert.

I know a little Ailbe (Irish, not short for Albert) and he sometimes gets Al - could be an option for when he gets older.

Not keen on either, but Arlo is the least bad.

Albie is overly cutesy and childish

My ds is 16 and has a friend called Albie (also Otto, Otis, Ivo but not Arlo, also several Freddies and Alfies). He's a very nice boy and perfectly suits his name. I don't think it's an issue at all.

Albie is not a “proper”name to me, so I’d go with Arlo.
Albie also sounds rather cutesy, which is a bugbear of mine. A grown man called Albie just sounds wrong.

I hate Arlo. It is one of those trendy names that came from nowhere - so will be very much “of its time”.

I like Albie - slightly prefer Albert, as not a massive fan of nickname names, but don’t mind just Albie. I also know an Ailbe who is 18, and the name suits him perfectly well.

Albie sounds like an old man or a dog to me (sorry), but it is kind of cute - if you like it I’d call him Albert or something so he has options

I love Albie. I'd put Albert on the birth cert though. I see Arlo as too trendy.

I named my son Archie without a worry about how his name would carry him through life. My great grandfather was Archie though so I only knew it as an old name

Arlo, but I'm not keen on either of them.

Of the two, Arlo, although I'm not really a fan of that. Albie and other similar names (Alfie, Freddie, Archie etc) all seem too cutesy for me. Plus they are all very popular and will date.

Albie is terrible.

I prefer Arlo. There are a lot of them about amongst the under 5s I know if that bothers you.
