Violet Lark

Hi all, I’ve been avoiding two nature names together as they can often sound like a name of a residential care home or a nail varnish...but I do like Violet with middle name Lark. Is it ok?

Violet is lovely, Lark is too, but they don't flow together. Previous suggestion of Violet Eva Lark was beautiful.

Josette77 · 01/01/2021 16:03

I love the name Violet.
Violet Leigh
Violet Anne
Violet Elizabeth
Violet Georgiana
Violet Sarah

I see violent lice, but then I don't like the name Alice as it has lice in it which puts me off. I prefer Elise

Other middle names we like are listed below, but I’m not sure any flow well? The only name I can think of that flows nicely is Grace, which IMO is boring and predictable.

Violet Florence
Violet Clara
Violet Liberty

Violet Florence works. The softer sounds in Florence balance the hard sounds in Violet. Clara is too harsh. Liberty is a bit hard to say. But it’s a middle name. It doesn’t really matter how they flow. They are never said aloud together really - apart from a baptism.

Cleverpolly3 · 02/01/2021 10:11

Violet Florence is the best of those three

I like
Violet Jane
Violet Polly
Violet Anne
Violet Ruth
Violet Claire
Violet Pearl
Violet Kate

NeonSparkle · 02/01/2021 10:26

Violet Faye that a previous poster suggested is so lovely!

Chilldonaldchill · 02/01/2021 10:31

Violet Florence is lovely!

goldielockdown2 · 02/01/2021 10:33

My DD Violet is 12 and we've never used her middle name or given it much thought so go with whatever you like

IdblowJonSnow · 02/01/2021 10:37

Violet is lovely but sadly doesn't go with lark which is beautiful.

ThirdTimeLuckyIHope · 02/01/2021 10:46

I think Violet Alice is lovely 💗

elldog6 · 02/01/2021 10:47

Lark to me reads more about messing about and getting into minor trouble than it does a bird. "I'm gonna throw eggs at his window for a lark", "Bugger this for a lark", "I'd rather lark about than get a job" etc.

Violet is nice but probably any other one syllable name would suit it better.

Violet Rose
Violet Mae/May
Violet Bree
Violet Ren/Wren (if you want another bird)
Violet Eve

MerryChristmasToYou · 02/01/2021 12:27

Another vote for Violet Faye.

napody · 02/01/2021 12:55

I read as violent too.... Violent Lark could be a tagline for A Clockwork Orange?!

But I don't always read it as violent and actually quite like the name Violet! Although I have just realised it also sounds like 'vile' too....rapidly going off it!

Agree the 'adjective noun' thing isn't a great idea.

FortunesFave · 02/01/2021 13:31

Napody or for an Enid Blyton gone wrong movie. Five go on a Crime Spree type of thing.

Or The Secret Seven Join a Gang.

Violet is lovely, Lark is odd but it's a middle name so it doesn't matter.

SlightlyJaded · 02/01/2021 20:52

I prefer a single syllable name with Violet - not sure why, but it seems to pan better to my ears:

Violet Clare
Violet Pearl
Violet Kate (I like this a lot)
Violet May
Violet Tess
Violet Rose

Birchtree4 · 03/01/2021 10:20

I really like Violet Lark!
Cant please everyone!

JaninaDuszejko · 03/01/2021 10:31

I think probably best to avoid a middle name beginning with a vowel, I use my middle initial all the time because I was at school with and now work with people with the same initials. Admittedly my initials are less rare than VT so it might be less of an issue.

I like Violet and think Violet Florence is lovely. Is there a family name you could use as a middle name? The grandparents loved that we did that (DC all have 2 middle names, one from each side) and it provides a nice link.

thethoughtfox · 03/01/2021 10:49

I also saw Violent Lark

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 07/01/2021 17:24

Fuck no

maddsclairelouise · 07/01/2021 23:55

I think Violet Lark is super cute!!

Hailtomyteeth · 07/01/2021 23:58

No Lark. Violet Venetia.

ghislaine · 08/01/2021 00:03

Violet is a great name, far better than Rose or Daisy or Pansy (although I do like Tulip a lot).

How about Violet Vivienne?
