Violet Lark

Hi all, I’ve been avoiding two nature names together as they can often sound like a name of a residential care home or a nail varnish...but I do like Violet with middle name Lark. Is it ok?

I doubt even some of my closest friends know my middle name!

Go for it, if you like it. What difference?

RedMarauder · 31/12/2020 13:12

@KirstenBlest

Elizabeth?
Are you a "Just William" fan by chance?
BloggersBlog · 31/12/2020 13:13

Violet is lovely, as is Lark, but not together

MrsDoctorDear · 31/12/2020 13:18

I like it. Seriously, nobody gives a toss about middle names. They don't get used past the announcement.

You could call her Violet Bogbrush, but she'd still only be known as Violet.

I only see the point of middle names if they are honouring somebody. It's a nice gesture.

Shmithecat2 · 31/12/2020 13:19

Violet is lovely. Lark is dreadful.

Shmithecat2 · 31/12/2020 13:21

How about Violet Wren?

colourmylife · 31/12/2020 13:29

Ok I agree about the adjective and noun!

Our second option was Violet Alice. It would make her initials VAT- does that matter?

Lark is not a name violet is ok but I do read it as violent (especially with lark after it)

MrsFluffyMuff · 31/12/2020 13:43

Love Violet Alice . IMO Initials don't matter unless its TIT or BUM etc

MimiDaisy11 · 31/12/2020 15:20

VAT are fine initials. Sure it means something but it's not like you use initials much or that you could make any joke about it. I'd only worry about initials with those names if your surname began with a G.

I agree with others that middle names aren't that important (although I would say that since I don't have one lol). Sure you want to consider it and choose a good name but I've seen people change the first name around to get better flow or to look better and it's really not worth it.

I like Violet Alice.

Chilldonaldchill · 31/12/2020 18:25

My friend has a Violet Mabel.
There were two Violets in ds's school - one was Violet Grace and the other Violet Elsie.

PoodleMoth · 31/12/2020 18:28

I really like it

daisypond · 31/12/2020 18:31

I rather like Lark. But I strongly dislike Violet.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 31/12/2020 18:47

Like a pp I like Lark, but not Violet (personal taste - I love Viola though!). However I don't think middle names matter much as only a few people will ever know it, so you should chose what you like best. Although what about Violet Laura? It's still a subtle nature vibe (means Laurel tree) but is a more classic/traditional name.

partyatthepalace · 31/12/2020 19:05

Violet is lovely but the combo is not.

Partly because the noun adjective thing will make people think of purple birds, but partly it’s just Too Much Nature Naming.

Violet goes with loads of things eg Violet Lucy, Violet Elizabeth etc. Do you have a family name you could use?

GilderoyLockhart · 31/12/2020 19:14

Violet Lara?

FortunesFave · 31/12/2020 20:49

I think the problem is that Violet doesn't really go with any other name very well.

Violet Alice makes me think of a purple girl...

lyinginthegutterstaringatstars · 01/01/2021 11:24

Love Violet, not lark though.

wherewildthingsare · 01/01/2021 11:26

Love the name Violet, dc name is Violet. Shame I can't mention her second name here as it goes very well together.
Sorry but don't like Lark.

tenredthings · 01/01/2021 13:02

I read this as Violent Lark ! Good name for a punk band.

YoniAndGuy · 01/01/2021 15:27

For those saying they read it as Violent Lark, is that not the case for any name that goes with Violet?

Well yes, it's one of the reasons Violet isn't a very nice name.

It's really harsh, sounds like 'Violent', and the short form Vi is absolutely horrible.

There's a reason that Violet was pretty much the very last dregs of the 'Flower names' to be revived. It should be really pretty and unusual, it actually makes for a horrid name. It will go right back out of fashion very quickly.

ThirdTimeLuckyIHope · 01/01/2021 15:53

I love Violet but I'm not a fan of Lark I think Violet Summer is nice

midnightstar66 · 01/01/2021 15:55

Violet is lovely, not so much park but if it's only a middle name it's not really a huge problem, if you love it use it.

midnightstar66 · 01/01/2021 15:55

*lark obviously- autocorrect

WhatWouldYouDoWhatWouldJesusDo · 01/01/2021 15:57

I know a Robin Willow which I think is lovely.
