Due a second girl soon. First is called Ella. We're trying to get it down to 5 or 6 names (it was about 25 two weeks ago!)

Thoughts on these names please:

Ruby
Annabel
Imogen
Sophia
Holly
Charlotte
Phoebe
Jasmine
Lyla
Lucy
Rosalie/ Rosa

Middle name possibilities:
Seren
Eira
Elowen

I like Imogen and Rosa the most. Rosa Seren is nice, not sure about any of the middle names with Imogen.

I also like Phoebe, Lucy and Charlotte as well.

makinganavalon · 28/12/2020 13:38

I like the name Rosa but it sounds for me a bit much with Ella, so depends on if you worried about how they sound together.
Same with Annabelle, if it gets shortened Bella, which people usually do, you'd have Bella and Ella.
I prefer Holly, Jasmine and Imogen as think they go best with Ella. But to be honest all the names are nice!! (I know, not helpful!)

Zofloratheexplora · 28/12/2020 13:39

Phoebe Elowen

MrsH497 · 28/12/2020 13:39

I have a Charlotte and one of the middle names is annabelle so I'm biased

MawkishHawk · 28/12/2020 13:42

You can’t have “Ella and Lyla” that’s practically a tongue twister, so cross that one off :-)

Similar issues with Annabel and Holly.

Bee175 · 28/12/2020 14:05

I'm not sure about the two with 'A's at the end. They might be the next ones to be dropped.
Middle names aren't set in stone- Ella has her grandmothers' middle name (same for both of them). My husband and I met in Wales which is why the two welsh names are there. Grateful for any other suggestions!

Such a beautiful list OP!

My favourites would be

Rosalie Seren
Annabel Seren

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 28/12/2020 14:12

Lucy Elowen 😍😍

pennylane83 · 28/12/2020 14:18

My preferences from your list are:
Phoebe Elowen
Lucy Elowen
Rosalie (but I don't think any of the middle name choices go)
Ella and Ruby go together also but personally not my choice.

diddlediddle · 28/12/2020 14:36

Ruby - if shortened to Rube could be a bit awkward with Ella, but otherwise I like it
Annabel - dull
Imogen - I find it quite an ugly harsh name but I know lots of people like it
Sophia - very very popular
Holly - like it but a bit hard to say with Ella
Charlotte - boring
Phoebe - ok
Jasmine - really like it
Lyla - too similar to Ella
Lucy - like it
Rosalie/ Rosa - Rosalie seems naff, Rosa I know lots of recently it seems very trendy, yet I also find it very boring

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 28/12/2020 14:45

Phoebe Seren

Strangely, I don't think any of the names on your list goes with Ella apart from Phoebe (and maybe Lucy).

Lastbonestanding · 28/12/2020 14:47

I like Lucy out of that list.

MisiSam · 28/12/2020 15:04

I think Ruby and Rosa go best with Ella.

Sawyersfishbiscuits · 28/12/2020 15:31

Jasmine Eira

Whatsyourflava · 28/12/2020 15:57

My favourites are:

Imogen
Sophia
Holly
Charlotte
Phoebe
Jasmine
Lucy
Rosa

RoseMartha · 28/12/2020 16:41

Lucy or Rosa

Nell96 · 28/12/2020 16:47

Nice list!

Ruby - like it, don't hear it very often
Annabel - like, though bordering on the slightly frilly perhaps
Imogen - love
Sophia - nice, but very popular
Holly - dislike
Charlotte - bit boring
Phoebe - beautiful
Jasmine - ok, though would inevitably be shortened to Jas / Jaz, which I'm not keen on
Lyla - pretty, but will blend in with Lila, Leila, Lola, Lyra, Lily etc.
Lucy - lovely, classic
Rosalie/ Rosa - really like Rose and Rosa, though I know two little Rosas born recently, so it may be on the rise

Middle name possibilities:
Seren - love Welsh names, but never been keen on this one. It's getting very popular and feel like the meaning is a bit twee.
Eira - love, also love Eirlys (snowdrop)
Elowen - like, but the Elm tree symbolism has always put me off a bit.

CrochetOrBust · 28/12/2020 16:51

Ruby is by far my favourite from your list. I’d probably use Seren as a middle name - Ruby Seren is lovely.

frosted232 · 28/12/2020 16:55

I like Rosa. Other Welsh names I like are Alys (Welsh for Alice), Carys, and Manon.

Butterbeeeen · 28/12/2020 17:00

I have a dd lucy and dn Ella. I think they go very well together

KirstenBlest · 28/12/2020 17:15

Ruby - rubella?
Annabel - prefer Anna. another el name
Imogen
Sophia
Holly
Charlotte
Phoebe
Jasmine
Lyla - dislike, too similar to Ella
Lucy
Rosalie - dislike
Rosa

all ok apart from ones marked as dislike

Middle name possibilities:
Seren - not keen
Eira - if a winter baby
Elowen - another El name. Prefer Lowenna.

Try out the name with the surname for which one sounds best. I'd be inclined towards Rosa.

Firebird83 · 28/12/2020 17:28

Rosa goes well

Phoebesgift · 28/12/2020 17:44

Phoebe. Pretty, not overally used and classic.

Phoebesgift · 28/12/2020 17:46

Also have a Charlotte but DH chose her name. I would have preferred Lucy.

CinnamonTeaForMe · 28/12/2020 17:56

I like Lucy and Phoebe best. Jasmine is pretty too.
