Which one do you prefer? Nn would be Emmy.

Emilia for me, Emmeline is lovely too but I believe it has pronunciation issues and is often misheard as Emily. X

DramaAlpaca · 21/12/2020 12:22

Emmeline for me.

bridgetreilly · 21/12/2020 12:26

Emmeline

JulesM73 · 21/12/2020 12:26

Why not just call her Emmy?

Thisusernameistakenagain · 21/12/2020 12:27

Nicknames are often organic developments IME :)
Prefer emmeline. Emelia will get mispelt as Amelia all the time and it reads a bit like a disease

seriousandloyal · 21/12/2020 12:28

Prefer Emmeline, beautiful name.

seven201 · 21/12/2020 12:30

I have an emmeline in one of my sixth form classes. I'm not sure if it's because I'm dyslexic or just rubbish at pronunciation, but I keep accidentally calling her Emeelien.

SilverOtter · 21/12/2020 12:30

Emmeline

BiBabbles · 21/12/2020 12:35

Both are lovely, I lean slightly toward Emmeline.

lucieloos · 21/12/2020 12:39

@JulesM73 I love Emmy but I think it's too much of a nickname and maybe not as good for when she is older.

@Thisusernameistakenagain it would be Emilia not Emelia.

My DD’s friend is Emilia - I think it’s lovely, but due to the prevailing popularity of Amelia, it’s constantly assumed to be Amelia and written wrongly. Something to think about if that would pee you off (it would me!!)

LittleTiger007 · 21/12/2020 13:04

Emelia is much nicer in my opinion. I love Emily too.

ILoveStickers · 21/12/2020 13:16

Emilia for me.

Nell96 · 21/12/2020 16:26

Emmeline - much classier, sounds strong, more unusual. Emilia is pretty, but a bit frilly for my taste. It will also blend in with the millions of Amelias. I prefer Emme / Em as a nn.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 21/12/2020 18:52

Emmeline - it has a nice link with the suffragette, and is less commonplace. Emilia is pretty and Shakespearean but in most accents is indistinguishable with the thousands of Amelia's.

Bruce2 · 21/12/2020 18:58

Emmeline

bravotango · 21/12/2020 19:17

Emilia. If Emmy is too nicknamey (I agree actually) what about Emma?

dippyegg32 · 21/12/2020 21:40

My Emmy is an Emilia, love her name and she's the only one in her school.

BakewellGin1 · 21/12/2020 21:46

Emilia definately... I know three who go by

Emmie
Em
Millie

Oh and I actually know an Emmie who has that as her full name

Scottishflower · 21/12/2020 21:49

Emmeline, just gorgeous!!! Emilia is a lot more common and just a bit mehh these days in my honest opinion.

Chilldonaldchill · 21/12/2020 21:50

I really like them both. I slightly prefer Emmeline.

daisypond · 21/12/2020 21:52

Emmeline. Emilia gets misheard as Amelia. I wouldn’t use Emmy, though.

Beetlebum1981 · 21/12/2020 22:10

Emmeline - but only because it's DD's name! It does often get misheard/mispronounced so we often have to correct but it's not a big thing and she's assertive enough to tell people Grin

binkyblinky · 21/12/2020 22:52

Emmeline !

Nonamesavail · 21/12/2020 22:53

I'm an Emmeline...People always hear Emmy as Emily.
