I don’t like ANY names

First was really easy, named after a family member.

Now due my second boy in 10 weeks and I can’t find ANY names that I really really like.

My “best of a bad bunch” names are Joshua or Joseph.

Joseph sounds a bit too religious and its massively put me off, but bf doesn’t like Joshua either.

Any other normal sounding J names for boys!?

James?

Notaschoolday · 16/12/2020 20:22

James

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 16/12/2020 20:26

James is the ultimate classic boys name and is finally dropping in popularity now (out of top 20 for the first time in decades) and has quite a lot of nn's for a one syllable name (I like both Jem and Jamie)

Or help bring back the classic John - it's so underused now and has more trendy nn options if wanted (Jack or Johnny).

Other than fairly popular Jacob, other less used options are Joel, Jonah/Jonas, Jeremy/Jeremiah, Jensen/Jenson and Jared.

BiBabbles · 16/12/2020 20:33

Normal J names: Jason, Jonathan, Jaime, Jasper/Jesper

Not very normal, and he'll hopefully be a bit late for it, but my first thought was Janus.

mamablondie33 · 16/12/2020 20:33

Jude or Jacob would be my J name choices

PlantPotting · 16/12/2020 20:35

Jago
Jenson

Jacob is my favourite J name but why not wait till he is born and see what seems to suit him then? As you don’t have any fixed ideas you might look at him and instantly think ‘Ethelred’ or whatever.

yeOldeTrout · 16/12/2020 20:41

Joel, Jordan, Jason, Jarrod. Why Js?
If you already honoured a male on one side with a family name, could honour a different male on other side this time.

nancybotwinbloom · 16/12/2020 20:43

It will come to you op Grin

nancybotwinbloom · 16/12/2020 20:43

Jack?

Lotsachocolateplease · 16/12/2020 20:45

@Chocolate1992 why a J name? Only asking because it seems like you’re limiting your choices so much.
There really are some lovely names out there. Have a look back through your family tree for inspiration- first names and middle names.

Personally I love the name Joseph!! I know a Joey that’s not full name Joseph or could you just use Joe?

nancybotwinbloom · 16/12/2020 20:45

I know a Jude and he is the kindest little boy ever. He's so sweet.

teenagetantrums · 16/12/2020 20:47

Jacob ..l have a Joshua a very old one now but wish we had gone with Jacob

ElloElloEllo122 · 16/12/2020 20:47

When I was pregnant I really liked Jesse for a boy.
My niece is named Jessica though so for me that was a no.

My sibling is Joseph and he is almost never called it and always called Joe

Chocolate1992 · 16/12/2020 20:50

Thanks everyone, I actually like James out of the above names, which I didn’t think of..

I have a Jack and I just want them to have the same letter, I have no idea why but I just feel theyll sound better together.. I have considered other options..

I don’t want him to be the baby with no name for weeks Blush
