I don’t like ANY names

First was really easy, named after a family member.

Now due my second boy in 10 weeks and I can’t find ANY names that I really really like.

My “best of a bad bunch” names are Joshua or Joseph.

Joseph sounds a bit too religious and its massively put me off, but bf doesn’t like Joshua either.

Any other normal sounding J names for boys!?

spiderlight · 17/12/2020 17:26

Jonah, Joel, Jude, Jay? James is a classic though

daisypond · 17/12/2020 18:09

Joshua is as religious as Joseph.
John.

DigOutThoseLemonHandWipes · 17/12/2020 18:16

Have you considered the potential logistical difficulties for them both being Mr J 59?

MessAllOver · 18/12/2020 21:11

Jonathan
Jolyon
Justin
Jonah
Jared
Jessemy
Jim
Jasper

star1459 · 18/12/2020 23:04

Jesse?

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 19/12/2020 07:07

James is lovely and has some nice nicknames ,- I teach a Jamey, Jay and Jimmy who are all James on their birth certificates.

IRememberMySpaceBabe · 19/12/2020 07:14

I love James, we used it as a middle name in the end but would have also been happy with it as a first name. I like Jamie too.

Jack, Joshua and Joseph are all lovely.

YoniAndGuy · 20/12/2020 16:15

Ah, OP, same letter never sounds better together. It's a bit twee really. I'd open up to new names - though James is nice enough.

Jack and Oscar

Jack and Otis

Jack and Finn

Jack and Toby

Jack and Rory

Lots of 4-letter ones there - maybe that could be the link?

ILoveShula · 21/12/2020 13:05

Jack and James have the same meaning.

bridgetreilly · 21/12/2020 13:08

Julius
Julian
Jonas
Jeremiah
Joel
Jason
Jerome

ProudAuntie76 · 21/12/2020 13:11

Joshua is more religious than Joseph, in a similar category to Jedidiah, Jeremiah, Josiah, Jacob etc.

Joseph is one of my favourite names, ever. But I am religious and that’s partly why.

I would have suggested Jacob but it’s too close to Jack.

James is lovely. Jude is good as is Jesse. I think you are limiting yourself by insisting on a J name.

SageRosemary · 21/12/2020 13:17

Jesus (for the time of year), John, Jeremy, Jerome

But what I like is Jack and Rory

Bearcub01 · 22/12/2020 19:27

Jace? Not sure it goes too well with Jack though.

These are the top three names I have on my list too.
James
Jack
Jude

MargosKaftan · 22/12/2020 19:32

Jasper
Jonathan (could be Jonty as a nickname)
James (could be Jamie for nickname)
Justin
Jacob (Jake nickname)
