We are down to a about five names. We really wanted a nature related name. Views on the following will be much appreciated and any additional we might not have thought of. Surname is one syllable and a colour

Sylvie
Elowen
Derwa
Derowyn
Asha
Robyn

Actually like all those names, they all have beautiful qualities

ReeseWitherfork · 28/11/2020 19:49

I don’t really like Derwa. But that’s all I’ve got to add really! The rest of them are nice IMO. Robyn is a definite favourite for me anyway but we have very different taste in names.

Love Sylvie

Nousernamesleftatall · 28/11/2020 19:50

Love Sylvie

Puffalicious · 28/11/2020 19:50

DS3 was going to be Rowan (pronounced to rhyme with now if it's a girl) after the Rowan tree. I love names from nature. I like all of your names so I'm not much help!

SentientAndCognisant · 28/11/2020 19:51

Ok, so given you want an opinion
1.Sylvie
2.Elowen

Elowen sounds like L.O.N. Not at all nice. The others are meh apart from Robyn which I do like. How about Laurel? Cassia?

Quercus3 · 28/11/2020 20:00

Robyn and Sylvie are lovely ❤️

MikeUniformMike · 28/11/2020 20:00

Sylvie - not keen
Elowen - yes but some will say ELL-o-wen. but I think it is El-OW-en
Derwa - derwa fish?
Derowyn - is it a name? - wyn is usually for boys
Asha - brimful of
Robyn - ok

SentientAndCognisant · 28/11/2020 20:00

LON are you telling op it’s a hooker name? It’s not Brandi or Lolita from fans only

MikeUniformMike · 28/11/2020 20:08

ELOWEN (el-LOW-en) – ‘elm’ nameberry.com/blog/cornish-baby-names

Holly

reefedsail · 28/11/2020 20:19

I love Sylvie. Sylvia or Sylva would also work for me.

For other nature names, what about Skye or Vita.

RedLimoncello · 28/11/2020 20:25

Robyn. Beautiful.

I also live Faye & Hazel in the nature theme.

FreezerBird · 28/11/2020 20:28

I met an Aspen a while ago which I liked.

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 28/11/2020 20:29

What about Rowan?

Peachbubble · 28/11/2020 20:51

I like Elowen

Frankiefarr · 28/11/2020 21:24

Thank you for all your comments. We also felt that may be Elowen looks prettier than it sounds as it would be pronounced the Cornish way.

I really like Rowan but can’t get Rowan Atkinson out of my head.

I like Sylvie best (although I understand it's considered a bit dated in it's native France, I still think it's a beautiful name). I also quite like Elowen, but not so keen on the others. I second pp suggestion of Cassia - I also like Gaia, Eirlys, Eira, and Seren (even though the last two are quite popular).

Whatsyourflava · 28/11/2020 22:22

Sylvie and Asha are lovely- they'd be my top picks!

@EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide RoWan is nice but very popular in comparison to other choices on this list (and very similar to RoMan)

BurtonHouse · 28/11/2020 23:06

I posted yesterday on another thread asking about Robyn - I absolutely love it and am still, 30 years on, bitter that I wasn't allowed to use it for dd.

Nell96 · 28/11/2020 23:13

Sylvie - love, also Sylvia

Elowen - I really want to like this, it looks beautiful, but I think it sounds a bit clunky... I really love Arwen, not a nature name but has the same ethereal feel, I think.

Derwa - dislike
Derowyn - dislike
Asha - my sister's name, pretty
Robyn - not keen

I really love Iris, though it's getting popular now, and also have a bit of a soft spot for Fern. Rowan is also beautiful, and I don't think the Rowan Atkinson association would spring to mind with a girl. I also like Camellia, Calla, Laurel, Aria, Opal, Eden, Violet / Viola. Other suggestions: Heather, Coral / Coralie, Jasmine, Delta, Tansy, Fleur, Ondine, Ilana.

Anchoredowninanchorage · 28/11/2020 23:59

Tulsi, think it’s s herb.. holy basil??

username1724 · 29/11/2020 00:45

LOVE Asha. Simple, easy to pronounce and very pretty.

SillyOldMummy · 29/11/2020 01:28

'Elllo 'ello 'Elowen!!! What do we 'ave 'ere then? 😂
