We are down to a about five names. We really wanted a nature related name. Views on the following will be much appreciated and any additional we might not have thought of. Surname is one syllable and a colour

Sylvie
Elowen
Derwa

Suggest Olwen rather than Elowen

Krazynights34 · 29/11/2020 02:40

Elowen is beautiful.

Rose variety names

Fern (Fearne)
I’m not sure I can get the right vibe for you.
Good luck!

I love Sylvie and Elowen, both are melodic and soft, lovely sounding names.

festivebug · 29/11/2020 04:01

I love Asha and Sylvie is also nice. I don't mind Robyn but I don't like the others. What about Acacia?Smile

KittenCalledBob · 29/11/2020 04:11

My favourites are Robyn and Sylvie. I love Rowan, and I don't think the Rowan Atkinson connection would bother me for a girl.

MagnoliatheMagnificent · 29/11/2020 04:26

Robyn and Sylvia from your list.
Dd2 was Amaryllis during my pregnancy but we called her something else.
I like Violet, Viola, Laurel,

Ginandplatonic · 29/11/2020 04:36

Love Sylvie, like Elowen and Asha, don’t like Derwa or Derowyn.
Don’t mind Robyn but prefer the Robin spelling even though that’s traditionally male. I also like Rowan and wouldn’t associate it with Rowan Atkinson.

MercyBodle · 29/11/2020 04:40

I love Sylvie and Elowen. I like Robyn.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 29/11/2020 05:16

I love Elowen and Robyn. I prefer Robin though. If you want a nature type spelling it Robyn defeats the object, IMO.

Dawn

SionnachRua · 29/11/2020 23:58

Sylvie - ok. I always think this has to be on a waif like girl though.

Elowen - pretty but I'd avoid anything with El- in case it becomes the godawful Ellie!

Derwa & Derowyn - both new to me. After Googling them I like them.

Asha - lovely name

Robyn - meh. Bit bland and meek

duckinatruckwithmuck · 30/11/2020 00:42

Willow

TrixieHeliotrope · 30/11/2020 10:17

Given the names I'd guess it's a daughter, Daisy and Poppy are my favourite nature girl names.

justilou1 · 30/11/2020 10:35

Acer - Maple
Willow/Willa
Saffron
Elder
Myrthe (Myrtle)
Acacia
Viola/Violet

Holly
Ivy,
Juniper
Sylivie by itself sounds like it,s short for sylvia. Asha I think of for boys. Robyn is ok. Like Arwen.

Growingyou · 03/12/2020 17:48

I love Asha best from your list. You could also consider (though I'm sure you already have) Briony and Willow, or for lessor known (Australian nature names) Tarni/Tarnee (meaning sound of the sea), Marli (black swan), or Kirra (dancing leaf)

PlantPotting · 03/12/2020 19:43

Sylvie is really nice and not too popular yet familiar

My baby daughter is Rowan so I like the name but must admit I find it too trendy these days and too similar to Roman which is also very trendy. I dislike the seemingly inevitable nickname Row. I like the nature connection though and really like the names on your list.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 03/12/2020 19:45

I love Sylvie and also Fern and Willow

YoniAndGuy · 04/12/2020 14:50

Sylvie is the best by a mile, it's the prettiest, interesting, easy to spell and familiar but not overused.

The others just aren't in the same league at all. Elowen - L,O,N. Sounds like someone starting to spell out the word London. Super clunky. Robyn is surprisingly boring. The others I actively dislike.
