Tabitha or Vivienne

Always loved the name Vivienne but recently I've fallen in love with Tabitha and Bibi (bee-bee) as a nickname possibly at home. Not fussed on nicknames so it's not a deal breaker. Can take or leave them and open to variables.

Which do you prefer

Vivienne or Tabitha ?

Not a fan of either but Vivienne is horrific. So Tabitha.

Tabitha

AvengingGerbil · 07/09/2021 06:34

I thought the standard nickname for Tabitha was Tibby, not Tabby?

Couldhavebeenme3 · 07/09/2021 06:37

Cat or hooker in Pretty Woman. Bibi seems just a bit too 'extra' if you're going for older, classic names.

tabitha , vivienne is nice , but it will just get shorted to viv which just sound common , not in a good way either , tabitha is lovely

I have a Tabitha. It's a beautiful, old, biblical name. I always think "If the worst thing people can say about the name is that it's for a cat, then I've not chosen badly!". I also love Felix for a boy, so I guess I love cat's names. My Tabitha is nicknamed Bea and Tibby/Tibbs (both nicknames emerged naturally as a result of what other children in family took to calling her!)

Vivienne to me is a little harsh. Vivi is a cute nickname but you might get Viv, which isn't.

@GADDay

Vivienne is beautiful. Tabitha is overused and also reminds me of a cat.
Tabitha is definitely not overused by a longshot.

I think this baby has been born and named by now. Perhaps OP can tell us if it was a girl and if she is Vivienne or Tabitha....

GADDay · 10/09/2021 11:58

Might be a regional thing. My DD had 3 in her year in primary school.

bravelittlepenguin · 13/09/2021 08:20

I don't get why people keep saying Tabitha is a cats name? Is it just the Beatrix potter connection? Op I actually think Tabitha is a lovely name for an adult and can definitely imagine someone going to an interview with a name like that. I also love Tabby and Tabs as a nickname

crossstitchingnana · 13/09/2021 08:45

I have an adult Tabitha, I think it's elegant. Of course she's Tabi or Tabs to friends. Vivienne is nice too, makes me think of The Young Ones!
