heyy, in my last post i asked June Maureen or April Maureen. The first names will stay my favorite bit you all said in combination with Maureen it sounds to old. But i really want to honor my moms name. So do you know a name almost the same as Maureen, with the same letters and it looks a lot alike? Please help. A name that fits with June or maybe April

I would use Maureen.

Yes it’s very dated but why does a middle name need to “go” and what does it matter if it doesn’t? When do you seriously ever even tell anyone your middle name?

My DS’s class went runs comparing middle names at one point (I assume the girls from the class went “Rose... Rose... Rose ... Grace ... Rose ... May...”) and that was the first and last time that came up.

If she’s embarrassed she can say she doesn’t have one. Or more likely, children now won’t think of it as such an old person’s name.. I actually think the majority of very young children now won’t have heard of the name at all. Honestly if I ask my 4 year old what he thinks of the name Maureen it would probably be a shrug.

It’s a nice link to someone and I think you would possibly regret making it a different name just to be less ... Maureen. Particularly when the alternatives aren’t even that nice themselves.

Maree would be nice.

Maureen in nicer than the first names you've chosen.

If you are honouring your mother then use Maureen, or use Máirín, which is the Irish spelling of Maureen

Just use Maureen

I know quite a few people will old fashioned middle names - I think it's fine! The only April I know is about 6 years old so I don't associate that with being old at all. Would you consider Juno instead of June? I love it and it has a much more modern feel.

I love June and definitely think you should stick with Maureen to honour your mum - changing it would not really be honouring her, in my opinion. I think it actually sounds very pretty and will come back at some point!

I liked a previous poster's suggestion of adding another name in there, but I am a fan of two middle names and gave two to each of my DDs.

FWIW it's worth my DD2 has two very unfashionable middle names, after mine and DH's mums: Linda and Margaret. She is nearly 4 and is very proud of sharing Gran and Grandma's names. :)

I have a friend who gave Maureen as a middle name to her daughter, naming her after her own mum.
The name works fine as a middle name in my view.
Have you a first name in mind? Are still considering June or May?
I think a longer first name sounds nice with Maureen as a middle name, personally.

Eg
Annabelle Maureen
Amelia Maureen
Emily Maureen
Jessica Maureen
Anna Maureen
Elizabeth Maureen
Eleanor Maureen

Juno as a nickname would be very cute, if you liked it :)
