I really love the name Tabitha - such a pretty, well -known but not too popular, slightly quirky name! I've always liked the name Claudia with it (also a fellow, less popular biblical name).

For me of your choices - Delilah or Magdalena fit best (both are similar style, uncommon biblical names like Tabitha). Delilah is getting a bit trendy at the moment but I think that makes it more usable in this case (in the past people were put off by Delilah's story where as Mary Magdalene doesn't seem to bother people so much).

Genevieve is lovely and works well too, as does Theodora (but two sisters names starting and ending with the same letters might be a bit much). Your other choices seem a very different style to Tabitha to me - either more nicknamey or natural/hippy style.

Marigold is lovely

Chilldonaldchill · 10/11/2020 08:14

I love Tabitha.
Eliza - lovely
Magdalena - this reminds me of Irish laundries for unmarried mothers. It feels really dour and religious to me. I quite like Maggie but not enough
Genevieve - I love the French pronunciation but really don't like the English one. It just reminds me of all the Jennifers in the 70s/80s
Nancy - I like this
Nell - I love this but probably would go for Eleanor as the full name
Delilah - I don't like this name
Marigold - it's ok
Clover - gorgeous
Theodora - I like this but prefer Dorothea, especially with Tabitha

From your list I would choose Clover which is fresh and makes Tabitha sound even better.
I would choose Eliza and Nell as second choices which I think sound a very safe and "comfortable" sibset.
I would be hard pushed to pick between Dorothea and Clover though if Dorothea was on there.

Harriet?

MercyBodle · 10/11/2020 13:44

I like Marigold or Eliza best for Tabitha's sister.

HeadlessGummyBears · 12/11/2020 19:34

I love Tabitha! I also think Delilah and Clover, from your list, go quite well with Tabitha.

I’d also suggest:

  • Susannah
  • Rosemary
  • Lavender
  • Octavia
  • Jemima
  • Marigold
  • Magnolia
  • Imogen
  • Elspeth
  • Claudia
  • Cordelia

I have to comment as there are so many similarities.
My DD1 is Tabitha Autumn Nell
My DD2 is Saskia (my daughter that we lost we nicknamed Clover) and my DD3 is Indigo (rainbow baby, went a bit hippy but it works!)

Tabitha was soooooo nearly Tallulah and I often wish I went with it.

Eliza - lots of people always suggested this to me but it's just blah to me.
Magdalena - Love Maggie, prefer Margot or Margaret to this.
Genevieve - Not keen. In fact irrational hate, but again, lots think it works so well with Tabitha
Nancy - LOVE
Nell - LOVE but maybe keep for a middle?
Delilah - love - was nearly DD3 for me.
Marigold - nope, not for me.
Clover - kinda have one. Super cute!
Theodora - Love Tabby and Teddy!! Or Tabby/Taba and Dora.... AMAZING! My fav from your list i think.

Good luck x

Delilah was my first thought!

Clover and Nancy go nicely

Taliasometimes · 19/11/2020 12:46

from your list i like Delilah

My sister is called Tabitha, and I think it's lovely. My name is Natalia, and i think they go nicely together. :)

Nell96 · 19/11/2020 13:22

Eliza - classic, maybe a little dull
Magdalena - not keen - feels quite religious to me
Genevieve - nice - I know one, she uses the nn Gevi
Nancy - not keen
Nell - like, good nn for Eleanor or Penelope
Delilah - like
Marigold - nope
Clover - awful
Theodora - Thea is beautiful

Other names I think have a similar feel to Tabitha:

Beatrice / Beatrix
Eloise
Clementine
Hermione
Isadora
Josephine
Eleanor
Penelope
Clara
Seraphina
Ophelia
Lucia
Aurora
Aurelia
Ariadne
Arabella

I have a Tabitha her twin is Theodore.
So I would go for Theodora.
The nn run nicely together.

(Off to name change now!)

PabloHoneyBee · 19/11/2020 15:18
