Which do you prefer?

Kane choice inspired by Citizen Kane and the cool Harry Kane.

Kane.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 03/11/2020 16:16

Have you considered Karl or Gavin?

If it has to be out of those two I'd pick Dale.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 03/11/2020 16:18

Oh dear I don't think either very nice at all.

Are there any others you are considering?

Whysrumgone · 03/11/2020 16:23

Dale makes me think of a 60 year old fat farmer. Kane sounds like one of our local north face chavs. If I had to choose I’d pick Kane, but wouldn’t spell it with a k

lunalulu · 03/11/2020 16:44

Not really either as am sorry but makes me think of chipmunks but ... Dale far nicer than Kane. In my opinion.

CherryPavlova · 03/11/2020 16:49

Neither. I connect both with very negative stereotypes.

AlwaysLatte · 03/11/2020 17:00

Without wanting to I'm getting a stereotype coming up in my mind. Unfortunately the only two children I knew of with those names happened to have not very nice, extremely loud parents and were sadly troublemakers.

AlwaysLatte · 03/11/2020 17:02

Also, the name Dale could end up being pronounced Dow by some people and that would stick permanently.

Firebird83 · 03/11/2020 20:54

Both are awful

Winterterrace · 03/11/2020 20:58

Big in the 90s?

Flushi · 03/11/2020 21:00

Dale is nice

Oh OP please don’t, they are both absolutely horrible

ChanklyBore · 04/11/2020 00:54

Coby, Nico, Cole, perhaps? zain/zayn? Kian? Kit? Nate? Jay? Ivan, Cian, Milo, Zac/Zak/Zack/Zach. Tate, Ray, Rome, Fox, Clark.

Palavah · 04/11/2020 07:43

Nope

Inkpaperstars · 05/11/2020 01:52

They are both really bad OP, I hesitate to say it but it will be an honest widespread reaction and I just can't see reactions to either changing any time soon.

CoffeeRunner · 05/11/2020 02:14

Kane isn’t an 80’s name is it? All the Kane’s I know of are children or teenagers.

Dale yes, probably more mid 20’s to 50 ish.

Neither name is terrible, but neither would be my first choice either.

Userzzz · 05/11/2020 02:18

I don’t like either, but I like Dane!

lovelemoncurd · 05/11/2020 02:18

A bit too chavvy for me so I don't prefer any. Sorry.

Lesserspottedmama · 05/11/2020 02:58

I don’t like either i’m afraid, and I usually like most names!

GammyLeg · 05/11/2020 03:07

Old men names where I live. And not good old men.

garlictwist · 05/11/2020 03:17

As an aside, what's wrong with north face?!

user1494101503 · 05/11/2020 04:24

Op you are kidding?

I think your kid will be judged in life with names like that.

If my child came home from school saying they’ve made friends with a kid with one of those names - I wouldn’t be inviting them for tea anytime soon

emilybrontescorsett · 05/11/2020 06:52

I don’t know why the op is getting so much stick, there are far more hideous names doing the rounds. I’d go for Dale becwusue if the bad connotations around Cain grin the bible.

MidnightFlit · 05/11/2020 10:15

I like Orson Welles as much as the next person but I don't think I've ever heard the name Kane and thought, Oh, must be after Citizen Kane.
