Hello! Ok, I finally shortlisted this 2 names!
Which one of these names sounds more beautiful, vintage and witty for a black African girl?

Amabette (pronounced with the accent on the A)

Lilibet

Definitely Lilibet, it's a lovely name.

MostDisputesDieAndNoOneShoots · 24/10/2020 18:52

Lilibet if I had to choose but I would probably actually use Elizabeth and call her Lilibet. I’m not mad about either though.

Felicity88 · 24/10/2020 18:55

Lilibet

Not keen on either really. They're a bit like dolls' names.

Lilibet Smile

Eaumyword · 24/10/2020 19:11

I like Lilibet! Agree with pp and maybe go for Elizabeth, known as Lilibet, so she has options for when she gets older?
But if you just went for Lilibet, that's lovely - she might get Lili for short (also pretty.)

elfran · 24/10/2020 19:11

Lilibet at a push, though only because I really dislike Amabette.

If you have it down to two, why wouldn't you just wait until she arrives and see what suits her/feels right? Choosing a name by letting strangers online vote seems like a less than satisfying way to go about things.

whatsbinhappnin · 24/10/2020 19:13

Aw I liked Akiko best!

I would vote Amabette. Nickname Ammy is nice

Jeremyironseverything · 24/10/2020 19:18

Lilibet is the best of a bad choice.

Orchidflower1 · 24/10/2020 19:23

@Jeremyironseverything

Lilibet is the best of a bad choice.
This. Go with Elizabeth. Then shorten it.

Ammy as a shorted version of the other will look like you’ve misspelt Amy.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 24/10/2020 19:36

Of the 2 Lilibet (although like everyone else I prefer it as a nn for Elizabeth). Amabette sounds a bit like "Am(I'm) a bet?" to me .

I too liked Akiko best of your choices (just not so much with Alaska - but I guess middle names don't really matter, it's the first/name surname combo that's important).

Echobelly · 24/10/2020 19:40

Lilibet - it's cute. TBH, I'd name her Elizabeth on birth cert but call her Lilibet day-to-day. But I just have this principle of not officially naming with diminutives, as I think when kids grow up they may want to use a name with more gravitas - it's what we've done with our son.

Amabette is quite nice, but she'd spend her life correcting people that it's not 'Anna-Beth' or 'Anabette'

MiddleEasternMummy · 24/10/2020 19:58

Apologies really but both names are bloody awful . At a push I'd pick Lilibet but only because the other is ridiculous and quite frankly a little chav . Sorry again !

sakura06 · 24/10/2020 20:11

Lilibet

lobsteroll · 24/10/2020 20:27

Like others have said, I'd go Elizabeth and nickname Lilibet

Sunnydaysstillhere · 24/10/2020 20:31

Lilibet looks like lilet imo.

MrsCrosbyNRTB · 24/10/2020 22:03

Was Akiko a previous choice? This is lovely. Really not keen on the other two. Lilibet at a push but as pp have said maybe go for Elizabeth and use Lilibet as a nn.

Congratulations on your baby! Flowers

CoffeeInAnIV · 24/10/2020 22:06

Lilibet if I had to choose.

lilacmoon78 · 24/10/2020 22:11

Lilibet, but like other posters I would call her legally Elizabeth but use Lilibet day to day. Lilibet sounds too much like a nickname just in its own

MegaBloxRoxx · 24/10/2020 22:16

Elizabeth nn Lilibet (though I prefer Libby, Beth or Lizzie)

Smellbellina · 24/10/2020 22:20

Why witty?

I prefer Amabette, I also think Lilibet is a bit too nicknamey, although DD’s name is officially a nickname so I can’t really talk Blush

Littleroundsponge · 24/10/2020 22:21

Lilibet

Katgolde · 24/10/2020 22:22

Amabette. Lilibet sounds babyish to me.
