Hello! Ok, I finally shortlisted this 2 names!
Which one of these names sounds more beautiful, vintage and witty for a black African girl?

Amabette (pronounced with the accent on the A)

Lilibet

@MostDisputesDieAndNoOneShoots

Lilibet if I had to choose but I would probably actually use Elizabeth and call her Lilibet. I’m not mad about either though.
Another vote to do this Smile

Amabette

acerred · 24/10/2020 22:33

I don't like Ammabet. Lilibet reminds me of the Queen.

upsidedown1987 · 24/10/2020 23:18

Lilibet is lovely

MJMG2015 · 24/10/2020 23:20

Why yet another thread about these same names?

whatsbinhappnin · 24/10/2020 23:23

Wow some people really can't understand that there are names outside the top UK 100, preferably white middle class

Both are lovely names OP (but I'm still voting Akiko)

MerryMarigold · 24/10/2020 23:28

Isn't Akiko a Japanese name? But anyway...
I don't really like Amabette. It just looks wrong, like it should be Anabette at least.
Lilibet is OK but not really witty or vintage.

Eleonorex · 25/10/2020 00:17

I shortlisted them. You don't need to read them or comment if you are so bothered.

Hickorydickoryspock · 25/10/2020 00:18

lilibet

boydoggies · 25/10/2020 00:20

Liking 💙💚💛

boydoggies · 25/10/2020 00:20

Lilibet

Bid876 · 25/10/2020 00:21

Out of the 2 Lilibet.

If you didn’t know, Queen Elizabeth’s IIs Dad called her Lilibet as a pet name.

iswhois · 25/10/2020 00:21

Oh crumbs

I thought "Witty" was an option- in which case my vote goes for that!!!

Dreamscomingtrue · 25/10/2020 00:21

Lilibet is the nicest Name but I’d put Elizabeth on the birth certificate so that she can chose from Lilibet, Beth, or Other variations when she’s older. What sounds cute now may not suit her in later years.

MiddleClassMother · 25/10/2020 00:28

@Bohboh

Both are quite ugly names imo.
Don't comment if you have nothing nice to say. Lilibet is lovely.

Don't ask opinions if you're not prepared to hear ones you don't like.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 25/10/2020 00:50

Lillibet, being the Queen's childhood nickname is surely the height of white, establishment names. The opposite of what you're aiming for?

Pemba · 25/10/2020 00:55

Amabette - not heard of it before, but it's pretty. Where does it come from? So is Lilibet, but it is so strongly associated with the Queen that it almost makes it unusable.

Dunno about witty though, can a name be witty?

MercyBodle · 25/10/2020 01:12

I prefer Amabette, though the spelling Amabet would appeal to me more. I tend to like more streamlined and subtle versions eg Juliet not Juliette, Annabel not Annabelle.

Lilibet is okay, but I do find it a bit childlike. I liked Akiko too!

wizzler · 25/10/2020 07:22

As pp have commented, Elizabeth

Nottobe · 25/10/2020 07:24

Neither. Lily rather than Lillibet.

This occured to me, too.
Eleonorex · 25/10/2020 15:26

Thanks for your comment, but what do you mean by "this occured to me too"? I just like the name really.

KatherineJaneway · 25/10/2020 15:27

Lilibet
