It's a strong name I love it

MissDollyMix · 21/10/2020 22:50

I know a young Edgar, nice enough little boy but I hate the name and everyone I’ve ever mentioned him in passing to always pulls a face and asks “Edgar?!” (With that Confused expression on their face) His name is usually shortened to Egg.

Harmarsuperstar · 21/10/2020 22:57

I know of a one year old Edgar. I think it was a bit of a surprise to his grandparents initially, but they all love it now. It's a good strong name

CharityPecksniff · 21/10/2020 22:58

Nice

Enko · 21/10/2020 23:33

Always liked it

lobsteroll · 21/10/2020 23:44

I really like it!

jennie0412 · 21/10/2020 23:47

It's an adorable name, but it does make me think of an old teddy Smile

MercyBodle · 22/10/2020 06:56

Love, love it!

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 22/10/2020 08:31

One of the very few good men in King Lear. I love it.

passthemustard · 22/10/2020 10:37

My dog is called Edgar.

elfran · 22/10/2020 10:45

Love it. Feels cute but also distinguished.

bridgetreilly · 22/10/2020 11:59

LOVE IT.

VenusClapTrap · 22/10/2020 11:59

Love it. I wanted it for ds but Dh wasn’t keen.

VirginiaWolverine · 22/10/2020 12:01

The little boy next door to me is an Edgar, and he's adorable, so I'm in favour.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 22/10/2020 18:06

Edgar has really grown on me (even though I think overall I still prefer Edward, probably just because I hear it more). Like others I instantly think of Allan Poe followed by King Lear and the ancient King Edgar the Peaceful (I guess because Edgar is not often used today). But I think it's a very useable name - quirky, with a sort of aristocratic feel, while still being well-heard of and fitting in with the other Ed's/Eddie's about. Nice choice!

BergamotMouse · 22/10/2020 18:17

Never thought of it before or met one but I think it's fab! Go for it!

TheVanguardSix · 22/10/2020 18:18

Oh it’s a wonderful name. I love the name Edgar. I know brothers Edgar and Magnus.

joystir59 · 22/10/2020 18:25

Edgar is a wet posh name imo. Horrid. Edward is much stronger.

DramaAlpaca · 22/10/2020 22:46

Edgar is one of the ugliest names ever.

FizzingWhizzbee123 · 22/10/2020 23:00

I’ve always had an irrational hated of this name. Makes me think of eggs too. But it’s probably just personal taste, rather than a terrible name.

MegaBloxRoxx · 23/10/2020 06:48

Dislike sorry. I also think it is wet and similarly, it makes me think of eggs. Edward is a good strong name, I would go with that.

TheoneandObi · 23/10/2020 06:50

I like it! Gravitas when he wants it, and a lovely shortening to Eddie when he wants to be more fun. I think it mostly depends on his surname. Edgar could scan weirdly with some sounds. Try them together and see

Tweetypietwo · 23/10/2020 07:49

It's a great name, one of my favourites!

userxx · 23/10/2020 07:50

No, it's awful.

olympicsrock · 23/10/2020 07:55
