My gran had several friends called Irene, all known as Reenee. I can't picture it on anyone who's not in their 80s with their hair dyed an implausible shade of red.

No. Come on- Irene?

GreyishDays · 21/10/2020 16:23

That’s Eileen!

Bubbletrouble43 · 21/10/2020 16:25

It's my mums real first name but she loathed it so much she went by a middle name from a teenager onwards. Very few people know its her real name. Fwiw I think it's OK and preferable to the middle name she chose to go by! I like the nn reenie

I love it, but it's a family name for me. I'm the first in 4 generations not to have it too. I think my mum disliked it.

I like Irini!

I like it. Sounds kind of Scandi.

MasksGlovesSoapScrubs · 22/10/2020 01:18

Hope not.

Sounds kind of Scandi

??

It's Greek!! She's the goddess of peace, and of the spring. Sometimes spelled Eirene, and uses all three syllables (three nicer than 2, I think)
