I'm STILL stuck on a boys name

I've made a couple posts before and have commented on a lot throughout this pregnancy. I'm now due in 2 weeks and we dont know what we are having. We have been pretty set on our girls name for a while, but for boys it seems to be getting harder.
I wanted my OH to take the reigns because if he really likes it it grows on me, but hes quite indecisive and when he thinks about a name for too long he starts to change his mind.

I think I might just need new suggestions but I think I have now heard every name under the sun.

I dont think we have a specific style of names we like, we like them to be either classic names but underused, a family name or something quite out there and individual as long as it sounds nice!

Names on our list currently:
.Aleksander - nice, but I think it's just a bit over used. Spelling because of Danish family.
.Cody - OH initially loved this and I think it might be our current top choice, but hes starting to change his mind again. I know, it sound American I'm not that bothered.
.Grayson - I love this, OH is on the fence.
.Robin - this is my current favourite, my OH is really not keen. Hes not saying no but he just cant get past an association.
.Malakai/Kai - so this name to me sounds very religious, no? I love the sound of it and I love Kai as a NN but I cant help but think people will this we are religious. Nothing against it.. we are just not! Haha
.John/Johnny - John is a family name that we would use as a middle name. But OH likes John, I'm not mad at it but I would really want to call him Johnny as a nn as it would get confusing with the other John.. again OH doesnt like Johnny due to association!
.Jaxson - OH likes.. I like it but I'm not wowed by it..

My grandads family is Italian so we have been looking into Italian names..

.Giovanni - love this, love Gio. But is it too Italian seeing as we are not Italian.. there is just a distant link ahaha.
.Franco - we like this but I'm not sold. It's nice but not keen on the dictator reference!

My OH has Danish family he would love to honour if anyone knows any Danish names?

Aleksander - lovely, classic names like this are never over-used IMO, and, you have a more unusual spelling
Cody - no
Grayson - no, over-used and will date
Robin - I'm not keen though it gets a lot of love on this site. It has become a girl's name for me.
Malakai - okay, not my style, and yes, to me religious (though I don't see that as a negative particularly)
Jaxson - awful with this spelling - Jackson is fine, though over-used. Just Jack is always lovely.
John/Johnny - like this - John has rarely been so used lately though a classic - I find it fresh on a little John.
My picks are Aleksander or John.

Milo
Bruno
David
Kaspar
Axel

Franco is good. I don’t think it’s on a par with other dictators!

Robin is a great name.

I also like Gio.

Not Jaxon.

Aleksander & John are nice. I really like Jackson but I don’t like Jaxson. It’s a confusing spelling that doesn’t improve a nice name. I don’t like Grayson, Robin or Cody. I probably wouldn’t use Giovanni if I wasn’t Italian.

wunderchump · 05/10/2020 07:10

Boys names are tricky. We really struggled!

I like John.
Benito, or Benedict (nn Ben)
Luca

fruitypancake · 05/10/2020 07:10

Agree, Aleczander or John.. sorry but Cody and Jaxon noooo

FippertyGibbett · 05/10/2020 07:15

I’m not a fan of any of your choices , but I do like Luca.

IslandLulu · 05/10/2020 07:15

I'm with fruitypancake

micc · 05/10/2020 07:28

Thanks for the opinions so far :)
I dont mind if people dont like them as I know some are not average names:)

So you wouldn't assume someone was Malakai came from a religious family? Again it's so a bad association like with Cody sounding American.. it's just an association

I also love Axel but OH not keen.
Not too keen on Milo, I don't like Luca. It's nice but it's way to common where we are

Rafael, Aksel (this is a cool way of spelling it IMO), Nohr, Hugo, Colt

aureliacecilia · 05/10/2020 12:33

Isn't Malakai usually Malachi?

LarkDescending · 05/10/2020 12:35

Stefan, or Jonas?

Aleksander - I like this. I'm guessing the spelling would be a bit annoying in the uK but not that big a deal
.Cody - really don't like this at all.
.Grayson - It's ok
.Robin - I find this too feminine for a boy
.Malakai/Kai - don't think it sounds particularly religious, lots of biblical names are trendy right now eg Ezra or Elijah. I prefer the Malachi spelling though.
.John/Johnny - John is unusual nowadays. Quite sweet. I really like Johnny. I would go for Jonathan nn Jonny

.Jaxson - spelt like this it's awful - you have to pronounce the s in the middle twice - I can't understand choosing that spelling. Jaxon isn't great but does make sense. Jackson is better. But I don't like the name.

Giovanni - I love this and Gio as a nn. I don't think it matters at all if you don't have strong Italian links
.Franco - it's ok

I would go for Giovanni or Jonathan/Jonny from your list....

micc · 05/10/2020 13:13

Yes, its traditionally spelt Malachi but we would want to use the nn Kai so I prefer the different spelling :)

We have now narrowed it down to
Aleksander
Cody
Malakai
Franco
Johnny

But we are still open to suggestions, just ran through the others that were suggested to OH, no winners 🙄

OP posts:
ThunderSkies · 05/10/2020 13:14

Isn't Kai a name in itself?

justanotherneighinparadise · 05/10/2020 13:15

The only one out of your list I like is John!

PlantPotting · 05/10/2020 13:15

Robin is nice. Would you mind the Rob /Robbie shortening?
How about Laurence, Tristan, Barnaby, Peter, Dylan, Eric, Casper, Austin....

justanotherneighinparadise · 05/10/2020 13:16

I can see you’ve updated. Okay now I’m going to say Aleksander. I do actually like the alternate spelling.

BasiliskStare · 05/10/2020 13:18

John / Johnny - That is a fantastic name.

perfumeistooexpensive · 05/10/2020 13:51

Spelling the name Malachi wouldn't stop you using the nickname Kai. Your spelling would cause confusion.
