I'm STILL stuck on a boys name

I've made a couple posts before and have commented on a lot throughout this pregnancy. I'm now due in 2 weeks and we dont know what we are having. We have been pretty set on our girls name for a while, but for boys it seems to be getting harder.
I wanted my OH to take the reigns because if he really likes it it grows on me, but hes quite indecisive and when he thinks about a name for too long he starts to change his mind.

I think I might just need new suggestions but I think I have now heard every name under the sun.

I dont think we have a specific style of names we like, we like them to be either classic names but underused, a family name or something quite out there and individual as long as it sounds nice!

Names on our list currently:
.Aleksander - nice, but I think it's just a bit over used. Spelling because of Danish family.
.Cody - OH initially loved this and I think it might be our current top choice, but hes starting to change his mind again. I know, it sound American I'm not that bothered.
.Grayson - I love this, OH is on the fence.
.Robin - this is my current favourite, my OH is really not keen. Hes not saying no but he just cant get past an association.
.Malakai/Kai - so this name to me sounds very religious, no? I love the sound of it and I love Kai as a NN but I cant help but think people will this we are religious. Nothing against it.. we are just not! Haha
.John/Johnny - John is a family name that we would use as a middle name. But OH likes John, I'm not mad at it but I would really want to call him Johnny as a nn as it would get confusing with the other John.. again OH doesnt like Johnny due to association!
.Jaxson - OH likes.. I like it but I'm not wowed by it..

My grandads family is Italian so we have been looking into Italian names..

.Giovanni - love this, love Gio. But is it too Italian seeing as we are not Italian.. there is just a distant link ahaha.
.Franco - we like this but I'm not sold. It's nice but not keen on the dictator reference!

My OH has Danish family he would love to honour if anyone knows any Danish names?

I like Aleksander

How about...

Magnus
Aksel
Viggo
Storm
Marius
Konrad
Erik
Anton

Firebird83 · 05/10/2020 13:57

I like John / Johnny as well

Kai and Cai are names on their own. Malachi is also a beautiful name, it does seem a shame to spell it in such a phonetic way, I worry it will look dated and Aldo look a bit dodgy on a CV one day.

You could still use Kai/Cai as a NN without messing up the spelling.

Other names in your style might be:

Hunter
Flynn
Linus
Lawson
Chase
Coby
Tate
Wyatt

Cody is my favourite from your list, it's on my list for baby number 2 x

Ah ok, I dont mind the Malachi spelling, so I think we will go for the normal to save faff. It was only a recent add to the list :)
I think OH is warming to cody again, sorry to disappoint the people who dont like it Haha he is saying oh we will just decide on the day 🙄 but that's driving me a bit mad as I dont want to be 2 weeks later and still no name, but I think our short list is a good start :) and yeah OH likes Kai on it's own, I love the name Malachi and I also think it sounds really short next to our DDs name which is quite long, 3 syllables. I felt the same about Cody.. but I cant base this child name just on what sounds nice with DDs name, I want to like the name on an individual level just like we did with hers :)

Thanks for all the comments so far they have been helpful.

In your position, trying to find a name that works in Danish, Italian and English, I'd probably go with John as a first name. Giovanni is the italian version of John so you could always nickname him that.

John Aleksander would be great.

Other names that work well internationally:

Lucas
Dominic
Oscar
Max

Sorry, also meant to add that Jack is another nickname for John. So he could be John, Johnny, Giovanni, Jack... Four names for the price of one!

Jonah

Is the baby going to have a Danish surname?

You could do something like Oscar Pietro Andersen Yoursurname, where Pietro is your grandfather's name, Oscar a name that would work in either country and Andersen would be replaced by yourOH's surname.
