Baby is here, but can’t pick name.

Baby girl is two weeks old today, and we’re a bit stuck for a name. We seem to keep coming back to these two: Gaia Delphine and Ingrid Isolde. Which do you prefer? (Please, if you hate them both, could you refrain from saying so? Thanks!)

Gaia Delphine has no particularly special meaning to us, we just like the sound. But I can’t decide if Gaia doesn’t stand out from all the other vowel-heavy names which are currently popular.

I like the alliteration of Ingrid Isolde. I like how Ingrid sounds different to the many very frilly and pretty names currently in fashion. I don’t like the sound of the name Isolde particularly, but the baby’s older sister is named after a character from opera and I’d like that little link between them.

I would swap the names round and go Delphine Gaia.

I think Ingrid is too harsh sounding.

@FairfaxAikman, I agree Ingrid is harsh sounding, but it’s exactly that that appeals to me!

I prefer Ingrid although love Delphine so maybe Ingrid Delphine? Or Delphine Ingrid?

I like ingrid but prefer delphine to isolde as a middle name

Gaia Daphne is nice too but Ingrid is great.

Delphine is pretty, she would spend her life telling people how to pronounce Gaia though which would be annoying. Not keen on the alliteration of the other name but as middle names are rarely used it’s not an issue though I think Astrid is similar but nicer.

Don’t pick the first name based on how it is in combination with a middle name. Middle names are never mentioned by anyone (except the person they’re named after, if relevant) at all once you’ve registered the name.

Pick YOUR absolute favourite first name then take it from there.

In 2 years time your dd wil be addicted to Peppa bloody Pig and there is a Delphine donkey on it!!

I'm not keen on Gaia (and there could be pronunciation problems with it) but love all the other names, especially Delphine. Please consider using Delphine as a first name!

She sounds like a strong little creature and Ingrid Isolde is a strong name. I love it!! Gaia makes me think of Captain Planet.

I like Gaia and I love Isolde... that’s not hugely helpful though as they’re not two that you’ve put together! I quite like Ingrid (it is quite mysterious and glamorous sounding) but I’m not keen on Delphine.

I don’t suppose you’d consider Gaia Isolde?
