Baby girl is two weeks old today, and we’re a bit stuck for a name. We seem to keep coming back to these two: Gaia Delphine and Ingrid Isolde. Which do you prefer? (Please, if you hate them both, could you refrain from saying so? Thanks!)

Gaia Delphine has no particularly special meaning to us, we just like the sound. But I can’t decide if Gaia doesn’t stand out from all the other vowel-heavy names which are currently popular.

I like the alliteration of Ingrid Isolde. I like how Ingrid sounds different to the many very frilly and pretty names currently in fashion. I don’t like the sound of the name Isolde particularly, but the baby’s older sister is named after a character from opera and I’d like that little link between them.

Thanks for any feedback!

I love the name Isolde and really like Delphine too so an unhelpful vote for Delphine Isolde 🤦🏼‍♀️😂 congratulations enjoy insert baby name!

Pieceofpurplesky · 04/10/2020 17:22

Delphine is one of my favourite names! Delphine Gaia is a better fit

M0rT · 04/10/2020 17:24

Love Ingrid! I know two and both are intelligent fun women.

PointlessUsername · 04/10/2020 17:25

Delphine as a first name for sure.

Oneandabean · 04/10/2020 17:26

I love Gaia and Isolde is nice. I don’t think Gaia delphine flows particularly well, Ingrid I’m really not a fan of and I don’t like the alliteration.
Personally I’d go Gaia Isolde.

FreeGlib · 04/10/2020 17:26

Ingrid is beautiful and was on my list. DH just told me Gaia means Earth and that's made me like it too.

Wish he'd had these opinions when we named our DDs.

Both are very lovely OP. Kids grow into names, you can't pick the wrong one.

MsTSwift · 04/10/2020 17:28

I really like all those names!
Delphie is an adorable nickname.
Really like Isolde too - maybe abit more than Ingrid but like Ingrid too. Sorry no help!

WettnWild · 04/10/2020 17:29

Gaia or Delphine. (Please choose Delphine! It’s so sophisticated)
The only issue I can see is Gaia being pronounced Gay-uh.
I know two Maias and one is May-uh and the other is My-uh.

Spied · 04/10/2020 17:29

Ingrid Isolde is by far the nicest.

aureliacecilia · 04/10/2020 17:30

I like Gaia Ingrid.

JustanotherTuesday · 04/10/2020 17:36

Delphine is the better name. A PP mentioned Astrid, I know a little girl called that. She goes by the nickname of Trixie. I prefer that to Ingrid, that sounds too middle aged.

NameChange30 · 04/10/2020 17:40

Congratulations! And well done for growing an 11lb baby, no mean feat Grin

I would forget about middle names for now as they're barely used and just think about the first name. Personally I much prefer Ingrid to Gaia. I'm not a fan of Isolde as a middle name (don't like the name or the alliteration) but tbh middle names don't matter much.

What's DD1 called?

seriousandloyal · 04/10/2020 17:46

I prefer Delphine! Gorgeous name.

missmouse101 · 04/10/2020 17:50

Gaia Delphine. Ingrid is unattractive sounding and Isolde just makes me think 'I solder' (electric wires...)

Trousersareoverrated · 04/10/2020 17:54

I like Gaia Ingrid but I guess you might want to keep Ingrid for a possible second daughter

Heyha · 04/10/2020 18:00

Ingrid, but only because I've taught a Gaia before and she was forever having to explain/correct the pronunciation of her name. She was shocked when I got it right first time, put it that way.

finallychangedmyusername · 04/10/2020 18:02

Ingrid Isolde is gorgeous.

Never0000 · 04/10/2020 18:03

I think Ingrid Isolde is lovely!

TheDaydreamBelievers · 04/10/2020 18:27

Gaia for me

ScottishLassie91 · 04/10/2020 18:39

I think Ingrid Delphine is nicer together.
Maybe call her by both names and see what one seems to work best for her?
Congrats! 🥳

Ojj37 · 04/10/2020 18:51

Ingrid was on my list, love it!

BoringBarrington · 04/10/2020 18:57

Isolde Ingrid
Ingrid Isolde
Delphine Gaia

All lovely (soft spot for Isolde and Delphine)

MsTSwift · 04/10/2020 19:00

Take into account that middle names are almost utterly pointless and rarely used -the first name is the important one

Ewanispurple · 04/10/2020 19:09

Delphina instead of Delphine as a first name? I have no idea how to pronounce either Gaia or Isolde!

CatteStreet · 04/10/2020 19:11

@polkadotpixie

I'd go for Delphine Isolde personally
This.

But of your two, I like Ingrid Isolde best. Just to throw another into the mix, how about Astrid?
