Expecting a baby boy this year. I'm English, husband is Greek.

Baby will have massive double barrel Greek-English name.

DP is keen on Jason (Ιάσων), to him it's just a good Greek name that translates well to English (we live in England)

To me, Jason is a 45 year old mechanic who has a wife 3 kids and goes to the same hotel in Majorca every year.

I'm a twat, aren't I? How do I get this out of my head, it's a perfectly fine name, isn't it?

I needed Anglo Greek names and called my DS Gregory. His middle name is Jay. I don't like the way it's written on his birthday certificate (τζει) but I do like Jason and Jay. Alexander was on my list but it's too popular in the UK and over here.

But if you like Jason, use it.

I quite like it. So much better than the overused Jacob and the chavvy Jaxen etc.

My godSon. He is 16

I can actually see it coming back around but it wouldn't be my first choice

DrDetriment Jason's friends are Mark, Howard, Gary and Robbie Grin

I've not heard of a little Jason for a while but its actually quite a nice name. Will be unusual in the current generation.

The fact it was semi popular in the 70s and was burnt out in the mid 80s, with along with Kylie, I think that spell is behind us.

TankGirl97 · 04/10/2020 09:17

It's really nice. A family member chose it for their (now teenage) ds. You just have to think of Greek history rather than Aussie pop singers.

Jason Derulo?
I know a Jason in his 40's, he's married with 2 kids, very intelligent, great job, good man.

BalanceGreen · 04/10/2020 11:28

Whilst I don't particularly like the name, it's better than Jenson or Jace, which are both popular, and you have a good reason for using it.

CherryBlossomTree7 · 04/10/2020 12:33

It's a nice name.

But a name I just don't think you can use now. It's definitely had its day.

orangeblosssom · 04/10/2020 12:57

Jason is very old fashioned

Ellmau · 04/10/2020 15:57

If it's Greek, would it actually be pronounced with a J?
