Spelling and middle name help

DH and I are down to 3 first names for our girl. However we can't decide on the spelling of Blair/Blaire. I say Blair, he says it's Blaire. Which one do you prefer?

And any middle name suggestion would be greatly appreciated. We are at a loss here, we have no preference or any honour names we would like to use but have been struggling to find one we like. We have even thought of going with no middle name.

Blaire but even then I instantly think Tony Blair I'm afraid.

would not want to name a child 'field' because a child is is a human, not a piece of land maybe engage in some critical thinking?

OP Blair is ok when said in certain accents. It can sound like 'Blurgh' or 'Blaaare' etc. It's a pretty marmite name.

pinky constructive comment is one thing, abuse is another

It is a fact that in a large area of Scotland the word Blar means 'field'. For example, here: salmonbusiness.com/mowi-scotland-looks-to-expand-processing-at-blar-mhor-alongside-brand-new-plant-at-kyleakin/

In that case, it's also the name of a fish-processing factory.

If anyone is going to use a word from another language as a child's name, it surely is essential that they research the context first.

I think Blaire is awful. It looks like Blair with an e slapped on the end to make it more feminine.
Blair is at least a surname.
You could call her Claire - at least that is a name.

Blake is nice for a boy.

I prefer first name Blah, with middle names Blah and Blah

LottieDot · 31/08/2020 12:17

I like Blair! I'd go with something more classic and feminine for middle name such as,

Blair Elizabeth
Blair Juliet
Blair Evangaline
Blair Isabella
Blair Josephine
Blair Emmeline

Where are you from, OP? Blair/e said in some accents is so pretty and in others is horrible! I actually really like Holland as a first name, especially as it can be shortened to Holly/Hollie/Holls etc.
