I don't like it. I find it very dated and very plain.

I do like Linda though. Something about the ending I just find more pleasing than Linsey.

FelicityPike · 19/08/2020 18:42

Why does it need a nickname?

MikeUniformMike · 19/08/2020 18:49

I know lots of Lindsay/Lynsey/Lindsey/Linzis

It's the name of a 50 year old woman, or a man of any age.

MikeUniformMike · 19/08/2020 18:53

Anne - prefer it without the e, but it is due a comeback
Elle - dated
Leigh - dated

PerditaProvokesEnmity · 19/08/2020 19:13

Leigh
Elle
Lacey

All sound like aliases used by people selling virtual sex on the Internet. Not like real names.

radioband · 19/08/2020 19:41

Jeez, I actually want to cry reading these. Lindsey is my name and whilst uncommon now I never saw it as such a terrible name. I do have to tell people how to spell it all the time but there is a lot of names like that.

I’m not sure why there are so many it’s dated comments. There are so many old names making a comeback.

mrsmacmc · 19/08/2020 19:47

My name (in my 30's) and was always frustrated I couldn't get anything with my spelling variation on it (Lynsey). I sometimes get Linz from people that know me very well and also use a variation spelling on Facebook. I remember working a summer programme and there was a male Lindsay on the staff team. If you love it go for it!

Agree @radioband!❤️

Lyndseys I have known are lyns if anything for short but generally not shorttened.

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 19/08/2020 19:56

It will forever be incorrectly spelt. Linsey, Lindsey, Lindsay, don't saddle a child with that name.

Todaywewilldobetter · 19/08/2020 19:58

Perfectly nice name. Be prepared to spell it a lot! I spent at least 10 mins today searching different spellings on LinkedIn to find who I was looking for! Grin

Unseeliequeen · 19/08/2020 19:59

Linsey seems a strange spelling.

I know a Lindsay or Lindsey can't remember which just know it isn't Linsey. It's fine. Linseed?

PerditaProvokesEnmity · 19/08/2020 20:26

Don't cry, radioband!Grin

I don't hate your name - it just doesn't suggest any particular type of person. Which is something I want from a name, even if my impression is always wrong.

foxtiger · 19/08/2020 21:34

I like the spelling Lindsey for a girl but not any of the other spellings.

I really like Anne (specifically that spelling), especially as a first name. I think it's a bit over-used as a middle name although perhaps not as much as it used to be.

Not a big fan of Leigh or Elle.

Anne Lindsey would be a nice name - so would Lindsey Anne, but I like the freshness of putting Anne first.

Lmnop2020 · 19/08/2020 22:03

Hello OP, I have actually registered on MM just to comment here because I am a Linsey and wanted to stick up for my name.

I am biased but I love it. I've never met another Linsey and rarely those with alternative spellings so my name feels like it belongs to just me. Yes I do have to tell people how to spell it but it really is not a big deal at all, doesn't happen often and funnily enough the people who care about me enough to send a Xmas card remember how to spell it 😉. It's spelt this way because my mum thought it looked nicer and spelt the way you pronounce it.

I accidentally gave my son a "trendy" name a couple of years ago and wish I'd realised it was so popular beforehand as I feel sad for him when I hear other children with his name in playgroups /playgrounds. We've definitely gone for a more unique name this time and I don't care if it is 'outdated' because apart from baby naming sites I've never seen anyone rate or judge a person's name in real life.

So on behalf of the few Linsey's out there, if you like the name, the way it sounds and looks, go for it!

EmmaGrundyForPM · 20/08/2020 05:00

Your child will spend her life correcting spellings of her name.

Ds1 has a very short name where there is only one way of spelling it. However lots of people still manage to spell it incorrectly and he gets fed up with correcting people.

Tsubasa1 · 20/08/2020 05:19

I like it, but I don't care if a name sounds dated or not.

ThighthighOfthigh · 20/08/2020 08:27

I actually like it! But Lindsey. The Lindseys I've met have been lovely people. It's a refreshing change.

I like Anne very much.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 20/08/2020 08:34

I don’t like it very dull. Prefer Anne.

HeronLanyon · 20/08/2020 08:46

It needs a ‘d’ not only is that the more normal spelling linsey will give rise to mispronunciations and uncertainty ? Knowing the name Lindsay if I saw linsey I would assume it was lin-see.

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 20/08/2020 09:52

Like the name but not that spelling i think Lyndsey is the best. Like the nn Lindy

Enderman · 20/08/2020 20:58

Dated and just ugly sounding.

Anne is dull.

Elle never seems like a proper name, a nickname yes.

Leigh I like but you could add anything to it to make it a better name.
