What do you think of the name Willabelle for a girl? DH looks quite keen, and while I think that it is pretty and has a bit of a woodland princess feel to it, I'm not sure if it is a good name for a child or if it is better being left for fairytale princesses.

@SockYarn

It's not a name. HTH.
My thoughts exactly! It's part of a question, not a name.

@SionnachRua You can always count on mumsnet to tell it how it is. Smile

@HolloTalk It's German. A different take on Wilhelmina.

I don’t hate it and it does have a woodland fairy feel to it. However it does have potential issues that I’d rather avoid, if it were my child.

August20 · 18/08/2020 00:21

Isabelle is lovely, op

sunyla · 18/08/2020 00:31

I love Willa and Belle separately but not a fan of Willabelle, sorry!

sunyla · 18/08/2020 00:33

What about Bellamy?

YourWinter · 18/08/2020 00:45

Oh good God you can't do that to a child. Get a doll if you want to give something such a stupid name.

reginafelangee · 18/08/2020 00:46

Awful. Sorry.

Viviennemary · 18/08/2020 00:48

Not keen. Sorry. But I've heard a lot worse.

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 18/08/2020 00:50

I quite like Willa- have liked it since Brenda named her baby it in the final episode of Six Feet Under- but Willabelle feels a bit made up.

GarlicSoup · 18/08/2020 00:53

Nooooooooo

ineedaholidaynow · 18/08/2020 00:53

If it is German would you pronounce it with a ‘W’?

Where did he get his other name choice from, sounded like catnip to me?

Catniss is the main character from The Hunger Games

Thank you

Rubybluesy · 18/08/2020 01:17

No way

PhilCornwall1 · 18/08/2020 01:40

These threads make me laugh.

Someone could post "what do you think of htfhyvhhdfhhh as a name for my newborn?" Some crazy bugger is going to come back with "oooo! I love it, so unique!!".

Poor kids are going to end up with names like spelling mistakes.

jessstan2 · 18/08/2020 02:25

Dreadful. Sounds like a hillbilly name.

alexdgr8 · 18/08/2020 02:43

first i thought, as a tennis player said, you cannot be serious.
agree with all the others, there's a first, that sounds made-up and ridiculous, and she would be subjected to ridicule.
and we are not in a german speaking country.
so there's no excuse.
plenty of good solid names to pick from. don't try to be too clever.

IHateCoronavirus · 18/08/2020 03:46

My lovely friend had the surname Bell and the referencing of ‘ first name Bell-end’ was relentless in high school. For that reason alone no.

Tavannach · 18/08/2020 04:02

I actually prefer Trixiebelle and Im not a massive fan of that.

MikeUniformMike · 18/08/2020 10:13

Shantabelle?

InDeoEstMeaFiducia · 18/08/2020 10:17

That's really a fucking awful name to saddle someone with.

DoTheMaccaroni · 18/08/2020 16:30

I’m sorry but I almost threw up when I saw that name then 🤮 very dramatic I know! But it really is awful!

I adore Willa though Grin

I had a cat named Trixiebelle Grin
Tavannach · 18/08/2020 16:46

@mumsiedarlingrevolta

Trixiebelle works well for a cat, I think.
