I love all of the below names so would probably use in the future as a first name but also wouldn't mind using for middle names, they are preferred suggestions, Irish/French is my theming and Marie is a family name. Bernadette as first because I have a personal connection to the name and my favourite ever series is TBBT, my name is two syllabals partners three, not sure whose I would use yet.
Della
Emilie
Estella
Rosalie
Enya
Esmerelda (Esme)
Giulia
India
Margaux
Daphne
Pippa
Celeste
Marie
Gabriella

How about Bernadette Rose?

Also I love the name Bernadette! Some people are being unnecessarily rude to you about your child’s name.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 12/08/2020 19:23

Bernadette Elizabeth ... or too long?

Grapesoda7 · 12/08/2020 19:26

Bernadette Magdalena?

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 12/08/2020 19:26

I really like Bernadette Ross or Bernadette Claire. Both are lovely, I think.

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 12/08/2020 19:27

Yikes Rose not Ross😂😂😂

DramaAlpaca · 12/08/2020 22:49

Bernadette? Really? Well, if you like it that's the main thing. I know one who goes by Ben. I don't think she likes the full version much.

I'd vote for Marie or Claire as a middle name, both have a French feel.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 12/08/2020 23:43

Shouldn't that be RostEnkowski? I call imposter!

Got no idea - I'd had the best part of a bottle of wine when I name changed so frankly.....It's good enough Grin

LyndaLaHughes · 13/08/2020 00:03

Bernadette Niamh?

LyndaLaHughes · 13/08/2020 00:05

Or Bernadette Maeve

TheVanguardSix · 13/08/2020 00:17

I too like Bernadette Frances!
Or Bernadette Roisin
Bernadette Aine (Anya)
Bernadette Orla
Bernadette Una
Bernadette Inès
Bernadette Marion
Bernadette Sylvie
Bernadette Florence
Bernadette Gloria
Bernadette Lucienne
Bernadette Fabienne

AhBallix · 13/08/2020 00:28

I know a Bernadette who goes by Berna.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 13/08/2020 00:30

My best friend aged 40 is called Bernadette, i love her name.

I think Marie is a nice middle name. I would keep the middle name short and simple.

Porridgeoat · 13/08/2020 00:36

I like it but think you should pair it with something simple like rose

IrishMamaMia · 13/08/2020 00:40

Bernadette Evelyn? :)

Canklesforankles · 13/08/2020 00:44

Clarisse

Aveisenim · 13/08/2020 01:05

I know a few Bernadette's under 30. It's not an particularly uncommon name. Mary or Marie would probably fit best. Claire could work or Clara. Or maybe Louise (or a variation of?) There's also Sue too.

babydisney · 13/08/2020 02:41

Thanks everyone for the good suggestions and more polite posts 🤣😳,
My favourites so far from the suggestions are
lucie
Marie
Grace (siblings name)
Mollie
Aisling
Faye
Orla
Also I wouldn't rule out caoimhe as stated above those two are the only two I would consider but thanks anyway x

mathanxiety · 13/08/2020 07:09

I love Bernadette.
I know sisters Bernadette and Dymphna, both under ten.

Roughly from your first list I would choose Bernadette Estelle (not Estella).

Suggestions:
Bernadette Madeleine
Bernadette Róise
Bernadette Pearl
Bernadette Eilís
Bernadette Eleanor
Bernadette Elowen
Bernadette Evelyn
Bernadette Elin
Bernadette Ruth
Bernadette Angharad

From your new list I love Bernadette Aisling.

mathanxiety · 13/08/2020 07:11

I seem to have accidentally erased Bernadette Rosemary from my list.

Thefaceofboe · 13/08/2020 07:27

Bernadette is cute. Love the nn Bernie :)

orangejuicer · 13/08/2020 07:27

Bernadette Rose sounds fab.

happyrage20 · 13/08/2020 08:21

I do like Bernadette and grew up with an abundance of them in the 80s. Only thing I will say is they were ALL called Bernie from the teen years onwards. This really isn't nice. I think you need to accept the nickname too and if you are fine with that go ahead.

Ardsallagh · 13/08/2020 17:02

Bernadette? Really? Well, if you like it that's the main thing. I know one who goes by Ben. I don't think she likes the full version much.

Grin

I just did a straw poll with family who are here today (in Ireland). Comments included 'Frump central', 'Not unless she's going to be a nun', 'It's such a Holy Joe sort of name'. On the positive side, it provoked a great discussion about Bernadette Devlin and the Black Panthers.

My Auntie Bernadette (who is known to all as Nan for reasons lost in family history) said 'Don't do this to a baby!'
