How many Graces do you know?

Following on from a precious thread this morning - I am swaying towards Grace to be known as Gracie. I originally really didn’t want an overused name but I think Grace is used much more in the middle then as a first name?

How many do you know? How old? Do any have Gracie as their BC name?

Thank you for your help...it sure is tough naming a human.

I know 3,
Gracie aged 13
Grace aged 17
Grace aged 70 something.

It’s lovely name, I’d used Grace on birth certificate with nn of Gracie.

Loads. Grace and rose are too middle names mainly thougbh. Very standard

GoshHashana · 07/08/2020 09:47

I don't personally know any Graces. I find it to be quite a harsh, ugly name for such a nice meaning. The 'Gr' sound is unpleasant.

Adelais · 07/08/2020 09:50

I know 3 aged 11, 8 and 7. I don’t think it’s that popular now.

Weenurse · 07/08/2020 09:53

4, Aunt in her 90’s, niece in her 20’s, boss in her 30’s and co workers daughter who is 1

CMMum88 · 07/08/2020 09:58

I know a few my age (early thirties) and one friend has a grace. None at daycare.

Lesserspottedmama · 07/08/2020 10:03

I know none. And I know A LOT of kids. I do know quite a few girls who have it for a middle name though.

AntiAuntieAnty · 07/08/2020 10:27

Thinking about it, there are none in DC's entire year group at school and there were none at nursery either. The ones I know are all vague acquaintances. I don't have any friends called Grace, any family called Grace and none of my friends have a Grace. I have two young DCs as well, so do know quite a few parents and children.

I really don't think it's that common. Maybe it's a regional thing. I'm near London fwiw.

One, aged 21. Only known as Grace. There were no others in her primary or secondary school, as far as she knew. She’s never met another one.

RedskyAtnight · 07/08/2020 10:37

My DC are 16 and 14. DD has 3 friends called Grace and DS has 2.
(DH calls their friends "Grace" by default if he has no idea of their actual name!).
Some are called Gracie affectionately but not as an everyday name iyswim.

Stygimoloch · 07/08/2020 10:48

My DD is Gracie on her birth certificate and it’s what we call her within the family. Some friends call her Grace though. She doesn’t mind.

She’s 10 and we know one other Gracie (who weirdly was born on the same day and we met when the doctor’s receptionist called for ‘Gracie’ for the first set of immunisations and both me and the other Gracie’s mom stood up!) and one other Grace.

It’s a beautiful, timeless name and I still love it.

Twirlytwoo · 07/08/2020 10:59

I know three Graces, 26, 18, 7

Whatsyourflava · 07/08/2020 12:30

Has this helped @Prettylittlelady

It's a lovely name and much less common used these days. Has been declining in numbers each and every year since 2006!

Prettylittlelady · 07/08/2020 12:34

I’ve just been reading through all of the responses @Whatsyourflava it’s definitely helped and I can see by the ages that people don’t seem to know many baby Graces and they are all older so with any hope, like you’ve said it won’t be suddenly super popular again.

  1. Both grace.
First is about 16/17. Second is in reception class, so probably 5? She is usually grace. But often Gracie when granny is around. Grace was I name I considered for my dd. It would not have suited her. She was nearly 9lbs at birth (2 weeks early) and a very clumsy toddler. I think brutus would have been a better fit
VerbenaGirl · 07/08/2020 20:52

Two, both tween / teen now. One often called Gracie. I love the name.

aprilfools19 · 07/08/2020 21:16

I’m 28 and honestly know a lot. There were 3 in my year group (out of approx 60 girls in the year). I just asked my partner who’s a primary school teacher and she said there’s quite a few at her school.

snowone · 07/08/2020 21:26

I know a Grace who is 12/13 and a Gracie who is 6.

I know lots of people with Grace as a middle name ranging from 20s down to babies.

Fishfingersandwichplease · 07/08/2020 21:41

I know a Gracie aged 9 but no Graces

gobananasgo · 07/08/2020 21:48

One about 26, would call herself Gracie when younger, but is officially Grace.

Another as a middle name age 18.

I like it ! But it's old lady chic ( my DD has an old lady name too)?

DawnAnn · 07/08/2020 21:51

I don't know any..

caringcarer · 07/08/2020 21:53

3 as first names oldest is 9 and youngest 1. Also 4 as middle name.

imissthesouth · 07/08/2020 21:53

I know quite a few graces, a few of my friends children have grace either as a first name or a middle name. Gracie is nice though!

DamnYouAutocucumber · 07/08/2020 21:59

Two, one aged around 13 and one 7. Neither of my children have ever had one in their class.

DancingLady · 07/08/2020 22:19

Several under the age of 10. It's a pretty, classic name.
