Otto

Otis

CakeRattleandRoll · 28/07/2020 16:53

I love the bear association with Orson.
Otis is great too.

Whatsyourflava · 28/07/2020 17:05

I really love Otis! It's a great name. Like a PP said, it is getting more popular but it's still about the number 200 mark in the chart and the growth trajectory of the name Otis has really slowed in recent years so it'll take a very long time before it's anywhere close to comparable popularity to your daughters name Ada

Galvantula · 28/07/2020 17:07

Otis. :)

Cait73 · 28/07/2020 17:12

I love love LOVE Otis, but I have a Marley 😉

JacquelineLadyBugg · 28/07/2020 18:24

I know siblings named Otis and Ida!

I like Otto best and also like the way both are palendromes, but that might actually be off putting to some people.

JacquelineLadyBugg · 28/07/2020 18:25

PS: the Otis I know must be about 9 or 10 now, and I don't know any others, so don't think it's especially common at the moment.

finallychangedmyusername · 28/07/2020 18:48

I like all three! Orson does make me think of Desperate Housewives a bit. And I'd probably expect (correctly?) a Germanic connection with Ada and Otto. Otis is the bus driver in the Simpsons I think.

At a push I think Otis is perhaps my favourite, although it's very close.

JacquelineLadyBugg · 28/07/2020 18:51

Otto mann!!!

Ahem...Otto is the name of the bus driver in the Simpsons. Simpsons nerd 🤓🙈.

Orson, Otto or Otis?
Mysha · 28/07/2020 19:09

Loving all these responses. Thanks everyone. I absolutely love that Ada and Otto are both palindromes...but definitely no German link here! We were quite gutted that Ada became so popular, so would rather avoid a name that’s about to similarly rocket up the charts..lots of food for thought.

@Mysha I see what you mean - the growth trajectory on Ada is so so steep! Otto and Otis growing but not in the same league. For Otis growth has slowed.
Ada is such a lovely name too OP! I can see why so many people loved it and chose it! ❤️

MikeUniformMike · 28/07/2020 19:47

Hannah and Anna are palindrome names

JacquelineLadyBugg · 28/07/2020 19:56

@MikeUniformMike

Hannah and Anna are palindrome names
She's having a boy though.

Otto and Ada (the name of her existing dd I think) are palendromes too.

MikeUniformMike · 28/07/2020 20:09

Yes. I can't think of any palindromic boys names other than Adda and Lol.

MikeUniformMike · 28/07/2020 20:09

Bob!

daisypond · 28/07/2020 20:14

Asa.

Bubbletrouble43 · 28/07/2020 20:20

I love Otis. I know one, a teenager, really clever, musical lad.

MikeUniformMike · 28/07/2020 20:24

I like Asa.

AAT65 · 28/07/2020 20:26

Otis sounds like an ear infection.

Diverseduvet · 28/07/2020 20:27

I've noticed more Otis's about, toddlers and younger. I don't like any really. Knew a really unpleasant Otis, so it's a no from me. It makes me smile that Ada is so popular; it was my great aunts name!

jackstini · 28/07/2020 20:29

Orson makes me think of Mork & Mindy

Love Otis, very cool and sounds fab with Ada too

BluebellsareBlue · 28/07/2020 20:32

None for me, but it's not my baby.

Orson is a reminder of Mork and Mindy... mork calling orson.

Otto reminds me of Otto van Bismarck. Which of course the Nazi battleship the Bismarck was named after.

And Otis, of course the name of most of the elevators/ lifts in Europe, Otis redding and the name of 3 dogs in my street.

finallychangedmyusername · 28/07/2020 20:32

@JacquelineLadyBugg Grin can't believe I got that wrong.

I also love Oscar and Owen. Oliver too, in spite of its unwavering popularity.

BluebellsareBlue · 28/07/2020 20:36

Oops Otis isn't the leading name of lifts in Europe, I just checked and it's the leading name in the world
