Hello, me and DW quite like this name for DS1; it seems fairly strong and traditional but not particularly popular nowadays. What do people think of it? Middle name will be George, surname Cameron. Thank you Smile

I've seen so many names on this forum get described as "slang for penis"

Percy, Albert, Ralph, Perry and evening John the other day

The fact that so many names are apparently slang for penis means I wouldn't see it as an issue!

Peter is one of my favourite names and I'm amazing it's so rare these days!

  • even not evening!

My Dad is Peter and he is the most amazing man ever! And yes, it means The Rock X

I like it too. I think it's still pretty common though, I know loads of Peter's and Pete's and many are younger. But if you don't mind that, by all means. My brother's name is Joseph, he has always had at least one other Joseph in his school classes but it never bothered him.

Thighdentitycrisis · 28/07/2020 15:44

Love it. It’s my sons middle name.

RoseMartha · 28/07/2020 15:51

I like it

ThatsNotMyPanda · 28/07/2020 16:03

My BFF named her son Peter. It was unexpected. But I love it.

TBF they have an extremely unusual surname so you would be hard pressed to find another #peter surname and Geoffrey surname'.

I love them both. I thought it was a tad boring at first but then realised how unusual and unique it actually is right now.

Keepingcomfy · 28/07/2020 16:17

Love it. My dad and granddad are/were Peter, I'd be so proud to name my baby after them.

We don't know what we're having however I gently mentioned Peter to my OH last night...sowing the seed

LooseyGoosey · 28/07/2020 16:21

It's a really lovely name. Makes me think of a sturdy but caring character.

LaGoulueRevenue · 28/07/2020 16:31

I have a teenaged Peter and still love the name. We have a French connection and if the silliness around the 'it means 'to fart'' doesn't bother us then it shouldn't put off anyone who doesn't :)

PrincessLouis · 28/07/2020 16:37

Love it. It means Peter from Narnia for me which is a v good thing Smile

OverTheRainbow88 · 28/07/2020 16:39

Was talking to a friend yesterday who’s due a boy next week about my love for the name Peter 😍 classic and not over used, never met an u kind Peter!

CakeRattleandRoll · 28/07/2020 16:48

Love it. It would definitely have been on the short list for DS, if it wasn't DH's name.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 28/07/2020 16:50

Not my taste tbh but I have to admit it works well with Cameron....

PlantPotting · 28/07/2020 21:00

Great name and so rare these days. It's on my list for sure.

2coffeesinbed · 28/07/2020 21:04

Love x

dementedma · 28/07/2020 21:07

I like it and adore the Cornish Petroc.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 28/07/2020 21:14

I think it's due for a revival.
And as others have said, makes a nice change from Alfie/Archie/Teddy.

MsTSwift · 28/07/2020 21:24

Omg I live this name. So refreshing after all the Archie / Finn etc
