Hello, me and DW quite like this name for DS1; it seems fairly strong and traditional but not particularly popular nowadays. What do people think of it? Middle name will be George, surname Cameron. Thank you Smile

It's just me that finds it a bit meh then!

ConnellSchmonnoll · 27/07/2020 20:17

I know three young Peters (I'm in Hampshire). One is 9, another 7, the other is 1. It really grows on you. When the 9 year old was born it felt old fashioned (his twin is called Richard) but it's lovely.

The 7 year old goes by PJ. None of them get called Pete.

HoHoHolyCow · 27/07/2020 20:43

I really like it!

Cindie943811A · 27/07/2020 21:16

The Peters I’ve known have all been outgoing types. Good solid name and not stodgy like a lot of the names making a come back.
IMHO a good choice

Metallicalover · 27/07/2020 21:31

I love it. It's my husband's name. I've always said if we have a boy I would like to call him Peter. He's not to sure about having a son with the same name. I'll try and twist his arm! 🤣

StLuciasdream · 27/07/2020 21:52

Very surprised at the love for the name. I find it incredibly wet and twee, sorry!

WinnieLowCo · 27/07/2020 21:53

I like it.

MadamMooch · 27/07/2020 22:03

I really love it and think it’s strong and classic.
However, I’m put off by the French verb péter and that also it’s slang for male genitalia☹️

dreamboatquickfuck · 27/07/2020 22:08

Dated

FriedasCarLoad · 27/07/2020 22:11

Love it. Strong, classic, underused.

Stellakent · 27/07/2020 22:15

Lovely. I also love John, which you also don't hear much any more.

Tillygetsit · 27/07/2020 22:40

Great name. Strong and refreshing. I love it.

Danniiaddy · 27/07/2020 22:46

The only thing that puts me off Peter is the fact that it means ‘to fart’ in French...

badg3r · 27/07/2020 23:34

I really like it and very under used st the moment. I am not so keen on Pete as a nickname.

WowserBowser · 27/07/2020 23:35

Love it

CoatTails · 27/07/2020 23:51

It’s my lovely, lovely dad’s name.

FizzyGreenWater · 28/07/2020 00:14

Slang for penis.

I don't like it - it sounds uptight. I imagine a prim little boy. Then a middle aged Pete.

Rosesarereds · 28/07/2020 13:19

I like it.

Is it really slang for penis Blush?

namesall · 28/07/2020 13:25

It seems like I'm in the minority but I think it's awful. The only Peter I know is my 60 year old uncle and I can't imagine it on a baby, but everyone else thinks differently so ignore me!

FizzyGreenWater · 28/07/2020 13:55

American slang really. But yes! 'His peter' Blush and ick!

lufcaregoingup · 28/07/2020 14:00

It's my dads name, reminds me of an old man name.

SecularPanic · 28/07/2020 14:01

Love that name.

Rachel241 · 28/07/2020 15:12

I'm not keen on the inevitable Pete.

Rachel241 · 28/07/2020 15:15

And that péter is to fart in French Blush

MissHoney85 · 28/07/2020 15:17

I like it. Unfortunately it sounds like a tongue twister with my surname, otherwise I'd definitely consider it!
