Thoughts on the name brandy for my DD. I torn between that and Eden!

Stripper name, sorry!

junebug87 · 22/07/2020 17:37

Brandy = awful

Eden is a nice name, but increasingly popular.

Cam2020 · 22/07/2020 17:39

Stripper name - sorry! I love Eden though.

SionnachRua · 22/07/2020 17:40

Stripper or dog name.

Could you use it as a middle name - and I'd keep the Italian spelling too. Not as a middle name for Eden though - they don't really go unless you put something else in between - Eden Emily Brandi Jones for example.

NoMoreFlowers · 22/07/2020 17:44

It's ok for a dog or a stripper. Not keen on Eden either

Alonelonelyloner · 22/07/2020 17:45

If you're in the UK or US avoid. It's basically a porn name of some kind. Just awful.

Eden is also a bit chavvy (sorry) but is still much better.

bengalcat · 22/07/2020 17:47

Going against the grain here - I like both .

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/07/2020 17:47

It’s a stripper or pet name.

ChockyBicky · 22/07/2020 17:49

Brandy sounds like an American woman who'd be on the Jerry Springer show to me.

saltycat · 22/07/2020 17:54

SionnachRua

I think your name means Red Fox. I love it! If I am right.

netflixismysidehustle · 22/07/2020 17:59

Eden is gorgeous
Naming your child after alcohol drinks - Chardonnay, Brandy Etc is considered very chavvy in the UK

daisypond · 22/07/2020 18:00

No, definitely not. Eden is better.

LynetteScavo · 22/07/2020 18:05

Limoncello or Negroni.

Or Eden.

SionnachRua · 22/07/2020 18:09

Yep that is it @saltycat ! I've run into a sionnachglic (clever fox) on here as well.

saltycat · 22/07/2020 18:23

SionnachRua

Love it.

"An té nach bhfuil láidir ní folair dó a bheith glic."

If you are not strong you have to be clever! Like the fox.

So sorry to take things off topic. Hope I will be forgiven.

That's Irish Gaelic, but it is more or less the same as Scots Gallic.

saltycat · 22/07/2020 18:25

Scots Gaelic apologies.

saltycat · 22/07/2020 18:25

Back on topic. Eden definitely, Brandy no, unless it is in a glass.

NotYourDawg · 22/07/2020 18:26

Brandy is a horse's name.

Scarby9 · 22/07/2020 18:27

Eden Brandi (spelt for your Grandad) works well.

Whatthebloodyell · 22/07/2020 18:29

chunkyrun that was my first thought! I used to love ‘the boy is mine’. I might go and have a little play on Spotify now actually!

NerrSnerr · 22/07/2020 18:29

The first thing that came to my mind was 'The boy is mine' by Brandy and Monica but that doesn't make it a bad thing.

NotYourDawg · 22/07/2020 18:31

Not as pretty as Tia Maria or Limoncello

I know a 16 year old called Tia Maria Smith

Years ago I was Speaking to her mum at pick up time and in the course of the conversation said "well we obviously know what your favourite drink is"

She looked at me blankly and said "Bacardi and Coke?"

Grin
NotYourDawg · 22/07/2020 18:32

Obviously I've changed the surname in my post.
