Sister for Alice

Alicehairband · 22/07/2020 16:23

Hi,

Dd1 is Alice and I absolutely love the name, it’s classic, elegant and feminine.

If I could, I would name Dd2 Alice too! But I just can’t.

Which name is in the same vein as Alice and would match well:

Hannah

Emily
Lily

Thanks all

Emily is boring. (Like Emmeline though). Hannah is a bit dated - more 30 year old woman than baby. Lily is gorgeous and perfect match for Alice!

Biscuitsneeded · 23/07/2020 19:58

I'm thinking of all the Alices I know and their sisters are Daisy, Amelie, Rachel, Lauren and Fern.

If I was naming a sister for Alice I would go with Clara, Betsy, Molly, Polly etc

Of your three: Lily is pretty but there are so many of them. Emily ditto. I love the name Hannah and I like the fact it is a bit dated because it means there aren't so many of them.

I have 3 boys but if I had girls I would have called them Grace and Alice

My Alice is Alice Grace! I adore her name even 18 years on.

Minty82 · 23/07/2020 22:59

Alices I know have sisters called Grace, Betsy, Olivia, Honor, Laura, Blanche and Elizabeth.

From your list I like Emily or Hannah. Lily doesn’t feel nearly so classic, and could almost be a nickname for Alice itself.

xxKatie9806xx · 23/07/2020 23:05

I think Alice and Eliza would be nice together.

Agree with PP that Emily is a bit boring but maybe that’s because the two Emily’s I know are very boring. What about Emmy or Emilia.

I like Lily but prefer it as a middle name. Hannah sounds quite grown up, I can never imagine a baby Hannah for some reason but it’s not very common anymore so that could be a good choice.

Kate
Eliza(beth)
Olivia
Ella

Enough4me · 23/07/2020 23:12

Liliana (Lily)

Greengrapes1357 · 23/07/2020 23:15

Lily or Emily.

Woulditbeworth · 23/07/2020 23:20

My first name is the same as your dd1 and my middle name is Hannah so in my mind they go perfectly.

rosy71 · 23/07/2020 23:27

Emily

doubleshotespresso · 24/07/2020 00:12

From your list Hannah, but I'd think Annabel/ Annabelle would go better with Alice DaffodilDaffodilDaffodil

Mish85 · 24/07/2020 00:25

Alice and Emily out of your choices, beautiful names.

Lucy would also go nicely with Alice.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 24/07/2020 11:28

I don't think Hannah is the same type of name as Alice though.

itsgettingweird · 24/07/2020 12:01

Alice and Hannah is my favourite.

Alice and Emily go well together.

Alice and Lily are a bit of a mouthful together!

Pemba · 24/07/2020 16:47

I agree with pps that Emily is the most similar in style to Alice. Lovely name, as is Alice. The names seem to come from the same era (Victorian).

Lily does too I suppose, and it is pretty, but a bit lightweight compared to Alice. Alice is more classic. Also Alice and Lily - too many 'l's altogether.

I quite like Hannah, but it doesn't seem to go as well as Emily. I prefer Anna anyway.

Pemba · 24/07/2020 16:50

I agree with a pp's suggestion of Lucy, or Eleanor would work really well too.

But I see you are not taking new suggestions!

Spied · 24/07/2020 16:52

Emily

( Although personally I'd choose Anna)

StrangerSwings · 24/07/2020 16:55

Hannah, but as poster above said I'd go with Anna

Whatsyourflava · 24/07/2020 17:21

Would love to hear what you pick OP @Alicehairband

BikeRunSki · 24/07/2020 17:30

I’m an Alice. Me and the other Alice’s I know have sisters called:
Jessica x 2
Lucy
Zoe
Martha

Pantheon · 26/07/2020 12:41

I'd pick Lily from your list but I think Emily is the most classic of the three.

Thefaceofboe · 26/07/2020 19:56

If I had to chose from your list, it would be lily. But I don’t think any of them go with Alice.

Fromthebirdsnest · 26/07/2020 23:32

I love Alice , I would go with Ella or Bethany (beth) or Emily , Ava , Polly , Charlotte (lottie) x

JustanotherTuesday · 26/07/2020 23:43

Out of the three names I prefer Emily.
I know an Alice with a little sister called Eloise.

YourStarlessEyes · 27/07/2020 07:36

Definitely Emily from your choices.

I have an Alice too, it's is a lovely name.
