Sister for Alice

Alicehairband · 22/07/2020 16:23

Hi,

Dd1 is Alice and I absolutely love the name, it’s classic, elegant and feminine.

If I could, I would name Dd2 Alice too! But I just can’t.

Which name is in the same vein as Alice and would match well:

Hannah

Emily
Lily

Thanks all

Emily most “similar” to Alice. Lovely name

EmmaGrundyForPM · 22/07/2020 17:29

Emily

I know twins called Alice and Emily and the names really work together. Emma would also work

SugarMiceInTheRain · 22/07/2020 17:34

I know two little sisters who are Alice and Kate. Feel they are both classic and underused names. I do love Emily and Emmeline too though and they were on my shortlist.

Starlight39 · 22/07/2020 18:17

I like Emily best and think it's most similar to Alice.

NotYourDawg · 22/07/2020 18:24

One of my girls is Alice and her BFF is Emily. I love their names together, they roll off the tongue.

I'm not keen on Hannah because I'm a child of the 80s and my school was full of them. Also prefer Anna, not as harsh IMO.

Lily is the current "Hannah" they're everywhere. Pretty name though.

user1493494961 · 22/07/2020 18:26

Emily goes best.

lockdown555 · 22/07/2020 18:29

I know two sets of sisters called Alice & Emily - it goes well.

I have a Thea and we love the name - think it would also go well with Alice

Anappleaday1 · 22/07/2020 18:46

I always said if I had twins they would be Alice and Emily, it's a great pairing imo. They all go nicely with Alice though, Hannah is my least favourite but the least popular if you are looking for something more unusual

TempsPerdu · 22/07/2020 20:48

Alice is beautiful - it’s one of DD’s middle names and one of the few ‘classic’ names I don’t find boring.

Tbh none of your three options can compete with Alice for me. Emily and Lily I find a bit weak and insipid, and I don’t think Lily in particular is anywhere near as timeless. Hannah is probably my favourite of the three and the least popular at the moment, but because I’m another ‘80s child it feels dated to me. Would probably still be my pick though. (Much prefer Anna, which is properly classic along the same lines as Alice, but Alice and Anna doesn’t work!)

TempsPerdu · 22/07/2020 20:50

Oh, and the two young Alices I know have sisters called Clara and Imogen.

KayakingOnDown · 22/07/2020 20:54

Emily

capercaillie · 22/07/2020 20:55

Hannah is lovely and goes well.

I have an Alice - also considered Ellen, Helena, Lucy and Eleanor

daisypond · 22/07/2020 21:00

None of them are quite right with Alice, which is very old English.
Hannah is Old Testament Jewish / Puritan and doesn’t go. But the old anglicised form of Anna or Anne would.
Emily is Victorian.
Lily is Victorian.
Emily and Lily go best. Emma or Elizabeth are better matches to Alice, though, both much older English names.

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 22/07/2020 21:01

I like Alice and Estelle.

For a different sound, I also quite like Alice and Sadie.

Longdistance · 22/07/2020 21:01

I have an Alice, her sister is Eleanor.

missingmum · 22/07/2020 21:03

Hannah 1st choice followed by Emily
Really dislike Lily

NavyBerry · 22/07/2020 21:05

I have 3 boys but if I had girls I would have called them Grace and Alice

LilacSloth · 22/07/2020 21:31

Emily from your list, although I think Anna is much nicer than Hannah and goes well with/has the same feel as Alice.
