Will put Edward on the birth certificate as a full version. But what do people think of Ted? I don’t hear about much nowadays, but it seems perfectly fine to me. Thanks Smile

Love Edward, Ted, Teddy!
Love Theodore, Theo too. ❤️

@MintyJones I know, I was responding to a your first message before Laura came on here, as this thread is not about the name Teddy.

I agree with you though that people don’t really make comments based on names anyway - there are Frankie’s, Freddie’s, Alfie’s etc I know and none of them get picked on for having what people see as a “cutesy” name.

I love the name Ted.
I think it suits all ages too x

123Dancewithme · 17/07/2020 14:45

It’s really popular, I know lots of little Teds. Edward is nice though.

MerryDeath · 17/07/2020 14:48

Teddy very common around here in babies so common in older kids soon!

MikeUniformMike · 17/07/2020 15:00

Ned is awful.
Teddy is very popular. I prefer Ed/Eddy.

BaseDrops · 17/07/2020 15:06

I can’t believe no one has said
EXCELLENT.

I like Edward, but not Ted.

sleepingpup · 17/07/2020 18:08

love it. but i would😉

Pegaroo · 18/07/2020 07:02

Edward is great. Ted and teddy are very popular, but that is only because people like the name

Poppydaisies · 18/07/2020 07:15

Edward is nice. Isn't Ed or Eddie the natural shortening?

Ted seems like a nickname for Teodor or Taddeus. Or Tedward Grin?!

Murraygoldberg · 18/07/2020 07:19

It's becoming very popular

Roselilly36 · 18/07/2020 07:24

I love the name, I know quite a few little, very popular choice where I live (South Coast)

daisypond · 18/07/2020 08:12

Ted is fine as a short form for Edward. I like it.

PlantPotting · 18/07/2020 08:15

Ted is a lovely choice
Not met anyone with this name despite the last 4 years at baby groups

istheresomethingwrongwithme · 18/07/2020 08:18

Love it, DS2 is Edward often known as Ted.

Never Teddy really, but sometimes Teddy- Edward or Tedders just between us at home. Mainly Edward or Ted though.

It's absolutely not because I binged watched Line of Duty when I was pregnant with him and have a soft spot for Ted Hastings (maybe a little bit though Wink).

Sorry, wrong thread!

Literaryseed · 18/07/2020 08:49

It's lovely but just so you know, it's very, very popular. My DD who's 4 has 3 in her nursery class of 20. That might not bother you but just something to be aware of. They all have to be Ted/Teddy Surname.

SumAndSubstance · 18/07/2020 17:39

I don’t hear about much nowadays
Baby and toddler groups around here are drowning in Teds and Teddies. Seems to be the new Theo. I don’t get the appeal myself, but clearly plenty of people do. Edward is nice.

Poppydaisies · 18/07/2020 17:45

Ted talks!

Poppydaisies · 18/07/2020 17:46

TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages

FedHimToTigersTheySnackin · 18/07/2020 17:52

I have a Theodore who we call Ted! I don't know any other Ted's, although a couple of Teddy's. Love the name Edward but I had an ex called Edward so it was a no go for us unfortunately! I get lots of comments on how lovely his shortened name is Smile

PetraRabbit · 18/07/2020 21:40

In honesty I used to love Ted as an alternative to the usual Ed. It felt fresh in a bit of an old man way! But I now know SO many babies called Teddy, that it's become the new Noah. I think as nice as it is, it is so very popular that it will date. No problem if that doesn't bother you.

MushyPeasAreTheDevilsFood · 18/07/2020 21:41

HaAAAAAAAve you met ted?

Love it. Taught a couple of teenage teds.
