Hi!

I’m 38 weeks pregnant 🤰🏼 with a little girl and we’re really struggling with names 😩
We have two boys called Ralph and Jude so need something that will go with their names.
We really like Bonnie but someone I work with named her baby Bonnie today and now I really don’t feel like I can have it 😢
My son likes Mabel but other than that we’re stuck. Please help!! x

I'd go with Bonnie if you like it.

sassysoul · 24/06/2020 22:13

I like Bonnie too, I'd go with it and just send her a congratulations message and say that's the name you had decided on too just as a heads up to her.

DramaAlpaca · 24/06/2020 22:14

Of course you can still use Bonnie. It's a colleague's child, not a relative's so it's fine.

I think Mabel goes better with your boys' names though.

Disfordarkchocolate · 24/06/2020 22:14

Bonnie is lovely but I'd be worried she'd get teased if she wasn't.

Sadie, Miranda and Elspeth go well with your boys names.

Spied · 24/06/2020 22:15

I'd use Bonnie too.

Plusher · 24/06/2020 22:15

Go with Bonnie. Cracking name.

Thank you, Mabel seems very popular amongst family and friends. I’m just worried she might hate it as a teenager?!
I’ve never met one so it’s hard to say 🤔 x

Luckily I told a few work colleagues that Bonnie was our first choice so a few have already messaged. I sent my congratulations but did make a joke of her stealing my name 🤣 x

Name her Bonnie if you want! unless your coworker is a close friend I don't think it's a big deal? you could make a light hearted comment to her saying "congrats! Love the name, we are actually planning to call our baby Bonnie too :)". I think most ppl would realize you chose it before learning of this new Bonnie. esp since you're due so soon!

Other names:
Rebecca
Annie
Lucy
Rosemary (Rosie)
Margret (maggie)

monkeyonthetable · 24/06/2020 22:34

From previous suggestions I love Sylvie and Wren is cute.
How about:
Robyn (Bobbie or Robbie)
Hope
Jeanne
Lara
Joanie
Vivianne

Cbeebiesrehab · 24/06/2020 22:34

I have a Jude who would have been a Mabel! I also have an Effie (Evelyn) and would call another girl Olive if I were to have one. If you love Bonnie then definitely use it! You might regret it if you don’t.

I’ve only known her about 10 months and we’re not friendly (although she’s very nice!) Last time we discussed names we both have totally different options so we’ve obviously both arrived at Bonnie during lockdown and not discussed it! A few colleagues are aware and have messaged to say what an unfortunate coincidence it is so it’s not like I’m going to suddenly spring it on her x

No way!! Great choice 😉 Mabel is definitely becoming more popular, my sons only 4 but he won’t accept anything else! I love Effie and Olive!! Olive’s been on our list for sometime x

I agree with the others, colleagues come and go, if you like the name than use it. However, I do have a soft spot for Violet. It's a lovely name

Chocolatecake12 · 24/06/2020 22:41

You’re colleagues so I really don’t think it matters. Go for the name you love otherwise you will regret it.

BackforGood · 24/06/2020 22:42

Another who says there is no reason why you can't use Bonnie.

This is a colleague, not a sister.

Allmyeye · 24/06/2020 22:49

Definitely use Bonnie. Either of you might change jobs and never see each other again. Even if you don’t she’s only a work colleague not someone close. Tell her you’d already chosen it so she doesn’t think your copying. You’ll regret it if you don’t use it.

Plumpi · 24/06/2020 22:53

Yes agree about Bonnie. After my daughter was born someone in my social circle came rushing in saying that was her baby name, and I remember thinking why would you care? And now our daughters have the same name and it doesn't matter at all.

Meghann32 · 24/06/2020 23:02

Thanks everyone for your advice 😊 I feel a lot better about things but also have some options 😘 xx
